Thank you to everyone who participated in the recent Global Moderator Election we hosted. While it didn't go too well, I'd say it was a beneficial experience for this community. So, without further delay, I'd like to announce the winner of the election. Let's give our congratulations to:
Kley and GhostHawk.
...what? Two new mods? Yes. This election was a really difficult process for nearly everyone involved, and I don't see us doing this again. Here are the analyses for the top 5:
Blueoak (0 votes): While you were one of the most popular members on the poll, there were a few reasons why you weren't promoted. Personally, I was willing to give you another chance but also saw the value in promoting people who haven't held the position before. I was somewhat worried that you would repeat past mistakes but, like I said, I considered giving you the chance. You also didn't receive any votes from the administrators. I'm sorry, man, I knew you were looking forward to it.
DarkMatt (0 votes): There's a time and place for your general demeanor, and I think it would suit this community in a few different ways. While I think you'd be a good choice, a lot of the people in this community (staff included) don't necessarily agree with me.
GhostHawk (2 votes): You were chosen because you're an all-around good user that has been here for a long time. Your help with the wiki played a big part in your consideration for this position (at least from me). You received two votes from the administrators.
Kley (3 votes): As someone who did very well in the polls and also has been in the community for a while and was part of the beta testing team, there was little question in you being fit for this position. You received three votes from the administrators.
Natsu (0 votes): While you did do well in the polls, you received no votes from the administrators. (m4sterbr0s edit: Though you're also a good user like Ghosthawk, Ghosthawk had the extra push of helping out with the SMBX wiki. The administrators also believed that you're not as fitting for the job as GhostHawk is.)
But wait a minute, why were there 5 total administrative votes with 4 administrators? Well, some of us voted for two. It's also worth noting that promoting two moderators allowed us to satisfy both those that voted for Kley and those that voted for GhostHawk, because neither of them were as high in the polls as Blueoak. Thanks again to everyone involved in this election - we probably won't see another one, but at least we tried it out! Congratulations again to Kley and GhostHawk!
