I'm perfectly fine with gay marriage. However, my girlfriend doesn't like it, I don't know why, she just doesn't think it's natural.

Personally, I do not support gay marrige. However, I do respect homosexuals. They're human beings, and I don't believe in hate.
If you're gay, I'll still be your friend. Honestly, I don't care. I don't HATE you, I just don't support gay marrige.

What did I just read.
Porn isn't evil, the concept of porn is recorded sex. Porn doesn't have to be done, hell half of it isn't even real. It's just people that are open to expressing sex on camera. Nothing evil about it.

Did you say half? xD xD xD Nope. I can almost guarantee you that all porn is at least 99.99% fake.
Anyways, back on topic.

No, at least half of all porn is "fake", meaning it's porn actors and actresses.
You can find some home video porn!

Porn is kind of irrelevant since this about marriage.

I can respect a different opinion especially when you're not hateful to the group, but I'm curious as to what brings you to your opinion on gay marriage?

as for me, i want another girlfriend. I can't seem to get anyone though, last relationship I had she said "i don't want this anymore" and left me.... I haven't talked to her since. That was atleast a year ago. The relationship lasted about a year and a half. Fuck my luck man.
Anyways back on topic, this has nothing to do about Gay Marriage.

Well, at least you announced being back on topic in time to say absolutely nothing about the topic.

We may never know.

ANYWAY
Technically a pansexual can choose to identify as a homosexual. Just because most gay people don't choose it, doesn't mean they all do. It's clear to me regardless that whether it's a choice or not still doesn't make it a bad thing. I'm just not all down with the idea of forcing people to identify a certain way if they don't want to.
Nonetheless, if a dude wants to marry a dude, it shouldn't even matter why. The fact that a lot of them don't choose to be homosexual and are then shamed for who they didn't choose to be is a pretty ridiculous part of our society.
"But gay marriage is not natural!"
Yeah, because it's so
natural to devote yourself to one person for the rest of your life.
Besides, you have to define "natural" pretty arbitrarily. At what point does everything actually stop really being natural? It was nature that created humanity, and it was humanity's nature to grow intelligent and inventive, so why are things made or caused by humankind not considered natural? Technology is practically inevitable on a planet that sustains life with the right conditions, and could easily be considered natural.
BUT NO. WE BAPTISTS DRAW THE LINE AT GAY MARRIAGE.
Whatever. That word is always just so ill-considered.

I believe people choose homosexuality. That's just what I believe and many people disagree.
I don't know what I was saying when I said that. I'm unsure if people choose it or not.

I'm a Chrisitan. We believe that men and women were meant for each other. I know what you're thinking. "Hey, Maruiki, don't Christians believe that homosexuality is a sin?"
Yes, we do. However, we don't judge others. That's all I really have to say about gay marrige. I hope you respect my opinion as I respect yours.

I don't get it. Who would CHOOSE to think "why am I not thinking this girl is hot with the rest of the guys?" and come under fire? And it's not like "hey look on the television it's the Homosexual Channel on every channel!". The Internet more than makes up for any liberalization of other media. Believe me if you could choose being gay you'd have pretty good reasons to choose to not be gay. And "they're just rebels!"? Being a rebel is no fun
Why, at my former, conservative, school, they didn't allow girls to preach or pray in front of boys. Agree or disagree if you wish, that's not the point. The point is, I tried to speak out against this, but it didnt make a difference. After some other differences, I went away after 1.8 years there. Still today 1 year later I'm depressed about how I didn't make a difference! Rebelling is no fun!

Because homosexuals do it to rebel.

This is the part where I reiterate:
Gay marriage != being gay != gay sex.
I don't know what sect of Christianity you practice (so if you could tell me, that'd be cool), but I do know that Catholicism runs with the belief that "we understand that people can have homosexual tendencies [being gay], but Leviticus says that 'one man may not lay with another man' [gay sex]". The separation of this is important.
So, as someone who obviously isn't gay, what brings you to believe that it's a choice? Is that just something you were taught? It's a choice to have gay sex, sure, but is it the same with being gay (let's just define being gay as liking guys instead of girls)?
Moving on from Maruiki's post, the gay marriage debate stems from our mostly-Christian roots as a country. We went ahead and institutionalized marriage instead of just leaving it to the churches, and tacked on a bunch of legal benefits. While the legal benefits aren't bad, we should just drop marriage from our legal system entirely and just support civil unions between anyone that is in love and wants it.

These two posts are the ones I agree with, the most.
I don't know on other countries, but gay marriage was legalized on Uruguay (my country) last year on April 10th if I'm not mistaken, and honestly, why the hell does marriage have to be related with legal stuff? Honestly, I couldn't care less about gay marriage. People have their rights to do whatever they want, so if two people of the same sex wan't to marry each other, what's the problem? The state is seriously going to start bitching because they don't agree with it? Seriously, that's just lame from them.
Marriage, sex, masturbation, it doesn't matter what it is, leave those topics behind if they don't correspond you. You have no right to actually tell them what's right and what's wrong because they have the right to do all that stuff with or thinking on whoever they want. They want to marry someone of the same sex? Let them do it. They want to have sex with someone of the same sex (if the other person agrees)? Let them do it. They want to masturbate thinking on someone of the same sex (although it'd be strange if you know he actually does it, even more if they told you)? Let them do it! It's not like there are stipulated rules someone has to follow, nature flows by its own, don't force them to fight the river, let them be taken away by it if they enjoy it and cause no harm at all.

This is just not fucking true. People are either born gay or "become" gay naturally due to external influences early in their lives; it is disputed which one of these is the case but the scientific community agrees that it's this and not some kind of choice. You don't
get to believe that this isn't the case, because it just is. If you've ever grown up with someone who later came out as gay (as I have, and I doubt that I'm the only one around here who did) you would recognize that they just never seemed to be into girls like others did. They just aren't. Some people have different tastes in sexuality, you're going to have to accept that.

I'd like to set homosexuality and bisexuality aside for a moment. People try to deny this claim, but I'd like to admit to being asexual. I have no interest in either gender, neither of them appeal to me. A lot of people tell me "it's just a phase, you'll grow out of it", but I feel that's not the case, because I've never been interested in either sex. Sure, I've had 2 girlfriends, but I just didn't feel like that was a match for me. It's kind of a shame that nobody talks about asexuality, because I think it's more interesting than homosexuality or bisexuality.
EDIT: Also, for clarification since most of you of you don't know this. "Gay" refers to a homosexual man, "Lesbian" refers to a homosexual woman. I would prefer it if people started addressing the group as "homosexuals", because they're not all "gay". This thread is to discuss "same-sex marriage", not "gay marriage". Even though it's something minor, it bugs the hell out of me.

I think it's due to the lack of controversy to be honest. Human sexuality has been a hot topic since, well forever. It seems that people just seem to not take interest in the absence of sexual interest and just dismiss it. I believe that's a shame since human sexuality is beautiful thing, and all parts should be talked about including those who are asexual.

Actually, Knux started this thread by referring to "gay marriage". So Lesbians are pretty much Off-Topic. Unless he actually got it wrong and made a topic referring to both and instead of making a "Same-sex Marriage" he wrote "Gay Marriage".
