Hi!
Been a while since the last vanilla contest, hasn't it? Nice to shake up the heavy theming and stuff once in a while to go with a more pure contest.

The vanilla contest will start next Friday around the time this is posted. As seen on the event calendar, it will run for 5 weeks, until April 26th. Plenty of time for even the craziest of vanilla contraptions!

There are no tricks, no stunts, no caveats, no buts. Just good ol' vanilla. Mmmm, tastey!

AWARDS
The same kinds of awards as with the Diorama Contest will be awarded.

TEAMWORK ALLOWED
You can form teams of 2 people, so if you wanna do a little bit of brainstorming ahead of time, gather round with a friend and see if they're also interested in participating.

EARLY SIGNUPS
If you want to get a notification when the contest goes up, you can express your interest in joining by leaving a reply detailing as such. I will ping everyone interested when the contest begins proper.

WHY DOESN'T IT JUST START NOW? YOU SAID THERE ARE NO TRICKS!
The clever among you could've already started months ago! The timings are more as a reminder to keep things relatively fair for everyone involved. Now you know to start brainstorming, maybe try out some ideas on the side, and then check with the general rules next week to ensure you're not breaking any.

I'm new to the vanilla thing, seeing as VLDC's interpretation of vanilla is different from what I expected I prefer to clear my doubts now. We are permitted to use the stuff that comes with the SMBX download ONLY, right?

That's right. The one exception is that you may use custom music. But beside that, you cannot have any files in the level folder (except tileset files that only have an impact in the editor).

I'm definitely interested in this, I missed the last vanilla thing but this time I really want to pull something off (I suppose Beta 3/Beta 4 basegame stuff is allowed but I'm asking just to be 100% sure)
