So I started up the SMBX Newsletter last year as a way to provide a centralised hub for news, updates and featured content. For a few months this worked well, up until around Summer last year.
Newsletters halted for a while and didn't return until November where I posted in bulk a lot of content that had been missed in the months between July and November.
I then made a newsletter for December but after that decided to post a series of featured contents in the buildup to Christmas. Unfortunately this was around the time where I slowly started to move on from using SMBX. I've become less interested and as such, have not had the focus to make a monthly newsletter.
Going forward, I have a few plans I'd like to share:
- If the Newsletter is to continue, then it'd require a team effort (and I may or may not be directly involved). Working by myself on it (for the most part; early on I had some help from a few others) has required all the effort to come from just myself. I haven't got the time or motivation to continue doing this alone, which is why I would like those interested in helping out to let me know with a reply to this thread.
- The Newsletter could become decentralised. Meaning, users can contribute their own content to share in the Newsletter. This would reduce bias in the selection of content but also make sure your content gets noticed! I'm still working out a way to handle this, but for now you can continue to use the #submissions channel in the main SMBX Discord server.
- I will likely only be involved in the 12 Days thread annually. Unless my plans change, I do hope to continue doing this as an annual thing. Old and new content will be featured once again, but this time if you have any suggestions to improve the way it goes, let me know.
- There may be an event similar to the 12 Days thread that would take place in Summer. I haven't got the plans for this finalised but I hope to get an update out to you nearer to the time. I was thinking something along the lines of featuring a variety of content once a week for 6 weeks, but I'll be thinking about the way I do it as time goes on.
So there you have it. I've become less involved with SMBX recently and have lost focus on getting the Newsletter out each month. I hope that a proper team can be formed (if people are interested). I felt it best to clear this up now rather than making you all wait forever without any answers.
