I have been watching several SMBX and SMR videos on YouTube. Some of the music is really awesome. I was wondering if there's an official soundtrack of all SMBX music available for purchase somewhere?

Most level music is actually ripped from games, so you will need to pinpoint the game it came from and see if its developer offers an OST for purchase. However, you can download the level and listen to the music file using your music player. Usually they are in MP3 or OGG format, so most comodity players can open them, but some levels use the actual retro game music files for their soundtracks, so you will need a player capable of opening them. SMBX2 (and probably SMR since last time I checked it uses PGE; 38A (1.4) doesn't) comes with a player capable of opening every file format supported by the SDL Mixer X sound engine, which is called PGE Musplay. You can set it using add_musplay_assoc.bat in the base install file. You can also find the stock music of SMBX in the music folder of your installation, and listen to then there.
To be honest, I listen to the music included with most episodes myself because why not.

I wonder... If the authors of those songs are available, could they get together and create a collaboration game music album and sell their soundtrack on Amazon or iTunes or something (assuming it would be legal to do so as those sound tracks are included in games like SMBX).
I think some of that music is really amazing and it would be nice to have it all bundled together for a download.
Would make a great backdrop music while coding.

Uh, most of the time the music in episodes isn't composed by the episode creators, and is just taken from elsewhere, so it would really not be a good idea to compile a list of copyrighted music composed by a variety of other musicians and try to sell it without permission.

I'm not referring to the middle-men. If there is original music created for SMBX those would be the creators I'm talking about. And, for the soundtrack, the original creators from other projects might agree to lend their music for a percentage.

Few people would compose their own music just for an SMBX episode. These are free Mario fangames after all.
Some people include the name and source of the song in a text file in the level alongside the customs graphics credits (where custom graphics are used). Your best bet is to look for those and google those names yourself.

Some people do make their own music for SMBX episodes, but they are the exception, not the rule. They would be legally allowed to sell their own music if they wanted to, the legality of doing so being completely unaffected by whether or not they were included in an SMBX level/episode. If people did try to sell they didn't have the rights to, then the original creator(s) would be indisputably justified, both legally and morally, in taking action against it.
