SMBX 1.4.4 Tutorial On New Features

Can someone please tell me the meaning of the buttons on the left panel in SMBX 1.4.4 and possibly give a tutorial of the new features under 'Modes'? Thanks!

Update:
The second button allows you to resize the section.
The fifth button allows you to make terrain by selecting the desired area (kind of like rectangle fill)
The thirteenth button allows you to select stuff only from one layer.
