Why is SMBX 38a so hated?

38a certainly isn't hated (unless you're talking about the user 38a, but that's another story).
I could probably write more on this but to sum it up:

- There used to be quite a bit of tension between X2 and 38a (typically "what is the better version", but also because 38a isn't actually SMBX)
- That tension has died down in recent times (and by recent, I mean the past year or two)
- People have their opinions on what engine is better, although it really is up to the individual to decide based on their needs

38a isn't hated though. You'll find a lot of people feeling strongly passionate towards X2 and I guess that would result in the illusion that people hate 38a? But at the same time, this works the other way too. Point is, I doubt there are a lot of people who actively despise the existence of 38a.

On this point - this was mostly fuelled by two or three people, most of whom have been kicked out of their respective communities entirely due to patterns of problematic behaviour. There was an illusion that this was widespread, but it was mostly a group of very loud people and the impressionable people around them. A big reason it died down over the past couple of years is because that's when these users started getting banned.

There was never any real conflict (with the exception of one or two weird moments with 38A himself), just some people trying to stir drama.

His game also has worse physics. I also had some specific bugs with it, in 1.4.4 the pause menu was defect and I still don't know how to whitelist 1.4.5 from my antivirus

Oh well, I got notified that physics were improved in 1.4.5. Anyway so far I only had 1.4.4 for the stated reason and the old physics were just annoying, making up for many unfair damages and deaths. The other issues were on my own end. I gave it a chance but it didn't prove very fruitful for me.
