As anyone who played Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World should know that Sunken Ghost Ship is the wreckage of one of the Airships from SMB3, i wonder which Airship became the Sunken Ghost Ship, since i can't remember any Airships with that level design.

The eerie, sinister, ghostly and flooded Sunken Ghost Ship!

I think the final SMB3 airship, hence a lot of ammo boxes, enemies and even lost souls (AKA Boos, Eeries and more ghost specimens)! That means the ship was loaded and full of enemies, similar to a level from the final world!

Yeah, it's the final airship from SMB3. I'm sure that during its trip through Dinosaur Land was in a rainstorm and got struck by lightning and crashed into the sea.

"You may have also noticed that this is the only level in Super Mario World where a Magic Ball appears, which is an item that popped up in the fortresses of Super Mario Bros. 3. This is because the Sunken Ghost Ship is actually one of the Koopalings airships from the previous game.
Though the game’s creators have never specified which ship it actually is (or explained why the Magic Ball shows up in an airship), it’s still a neat reference considering that the game is a direct sequel to Super Mario Bros. 3."
This is the most source to find it doesn’t confirm anywhere that it’s the final one so sorry guys.

It's hard to take the official source for the events of both SMB3 or World as true due to one discrepancy.
If the Sunken Ghost Ship is one of Bowser's airships from SMB3 (as stated by SMW's instruction booklet), then that would mean that the events of SMB3 actually happened (meaning it wasn't a stage performance) like the theory suggests that Nintendo had previously confirmed. If SMB3 was a stage play, then the airship/Ghost Ship in question would most likely not be a legitimate one, only a stage prop. And it would probably only consist of the features needed to make it appear like more than just a hanging prop or something screwed to the background.
If we believe that SMB3 was a stage play, and discredit SMW's instruction booklet on the other hand, then the Ghost Ship cannot be from the events of SMB3 as it is a legitimate airship, or at least it was prior to ending up under the water.

I think this is one of those situations where the theme music from Mystery Science Theater 3000 applies:
If you're wondering how he eats and breathes
And other science facts
Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show"
"I should really just relax!"
Somewhere, I think I read Shigeru Miyamoto saying that he regarded the different sequels as being like different movies made by the Marx Brothers or other old Hollywood teams. The characters are the same, the plots are very similar, but there isn't necessarily one-to-one continuity.
