SMBX Crashes unless Sound is Disabled

Hello,

I am unsure if this is the correct place to ask but I hope this is. I downloaded the latest version of Super Mario Bros. X and installed it. When I start it however, it comes up with the loading screen but then stops responding immediately afterwards. I'm running Windows 8. I've tried running as administrator, and running in compatibility for Windows 7 and Vista Service Pack 2. I've uninstalled it and installed the zip version. I've also erased that and reinstalled the installer version. It still crashes though, and I'm unsure why. If I run it without sound, it loads, but if I let it run with sound enabled it crashes. Thank you for any help in advance and I apologize if this is the incorrect forum section.

I would also like to note that the downloads always seem to error the first time and then restart and work the next. Not sure if that is related to the issue.

Edit: http://www.smbxgame.com/forums/v ... ound+crash I found this post here but they didn't seem to find a solution either.

Huh, strange.
I'm just gonna take a guess and say your computer can't handle SMBX normally, can you post your specs?

Well I can run it, but only when sound is disabled. It runs perfectly fine and smooth with sound disabled.
