Multiple overworlds or additional tiles?

Postby Boxhead » Tue Oct 13, 2020 4:32 am

Hello, I'm new in the forum :D

Currently I'm working on an ambitious project which needs an overworld. It's roughly planned to have 9 or 10 different worlds. Each world is supposed to have its own theme. So one of it are green plains, another one is a cave, another a desert, another a snowy world and so on.

The problem I'm experiencing is I can't use enough different tiles as the editor limits me to 8 different worlds (SMW Grass, SMW Mountain, SMW Cave SMW Bowser etc.). So my question is if it's possible to either create multiple overworlds and load them in 1 project so that I can bypass that problem or to add completely new tiles (I don't mean replacing their graphics but adding new tiles with new IDs).

A screenshot of the overworld at the moment, where I'm already using 2/8 tile types.

There can only be one world map per project. You can batch tiles, though:

Thanks, this helped a lot! As soon as I'm finished with the first part of my overworld I'll export it in the smbx editor using File => Export to image and use that exported file as a tile for my overworld
