the SMBX2 installer is already a compressed zip. It can be opened with 7zip with no issues. HOWEVER! If you choose to install this way, you might run into permission-related issues and there is nothing preventing you from extracting into a previous installation's folder, which might break spectacularly. This thread is entirely unnecessary.

The installer should be very simple, but if it is causing problems, you can just extract it with 7zip. The installer is just a self-extracting compressed archive, though extracting directly will lose you some things (like the quick access folders from the installation), and it won't stop you from installing somewhere where the installation won't work.
