Maybe you could alter the code to only spawn one Sprint per section, there has to be a way to do that isn't there? Other than that it's a pretty neat idea, kind of resemblances the key holding feature on TLoZ.

Yeah, for me, that is a much better solution instead of throwing Springboards because you can throw infinitly and you can also break the game like that.

Yeah, Spring Mario is in General the one power ups that lets you jump higher if you are Timing correctly but the downfall is you always jumping if you are touching the ground no matter what.
So, it is necessary to rename it as "Springboard Mario" or by directed matters by the power up, "Springboard Flower".

Maybe it is possible to restrict the spawn rate for like 1 or 2 springboards on the screen and if one of them is offscreen, you can shoot another one...
