To be fair, "8-bit" graphics can only be taken so far compared to "16-bit". For an actual NES, this would probably be fine, although of course color limitations might apply.

Cursed? I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Also, I only just noticed the pairing with SMB1 Mario where the SMB2 or SMB3 sprite would have made more sense, especially with the Hammer Suit on. SMB2 or SMB3 Mario would definitely improve it.

Come to think of it, there's no screenshot of what it looks like when the Yoshi sprite is ducking to "lick" something. Might that be more common? I guess some players are used to holding the up arrow while doing it.

i did up so its easy to see the head in full. SMB1 mario was an accident.

Sorry for bumping, but...

Early concept art for Super Mario Bros. 3 shows that Frog Mario would be able to use his tongue to slurp up and spit out enemies, which would later become one of Yoshi's abilities in Super Mario World.[1]
