Shouldn't there be a publish date filter?

I always thought it was weird the fact that you can sort various forums by its last post and not by its publish date. Why do I mean by that?

Sorting by 'post time', is sorting a forum by the last reply that was typed on that forum specifically. Sorting by publish date however, is sorting the threads by their creation date. Why isn't there one?

Since you don't seem to have searched for solutions online... There seems to be a plugin for this, thought it appears to have... dropped support for phpbb 3.1.x, so RIP https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... rt_topics/

I seriously dislike the fact there isn't one. Just one reply would bring the entire thread to the tops seems ridiculous, especially if the thread is something trivial.

on the other end, in what way would it be beneficial? (like, other options are useful if you want to search the most popular threads, or threads from a specific person)

The fact that you can sort the forums in a chronological way. Some people want to see the first forums and last forums posted in the website for example.
