What about the Profile Pictures of banned users?

This is something I always found strange, so I decided to ask.
Why are there some banned users, like Eri7, who still have their profile pictures while other ones, like Raster, only show the "dead Mario" graphic?

To be totally honest with you, I think it's a bug... I don't know

When a user gets permanently banned, they normally have their profile pic changed. This is something manually done by admins.

I suppose that's why Eri7 kept his. He has been unbanned as of recently.

I think the profile pic is a game over mario right?
I mean I think it makes sense. No reason to have a profile pic if ur banned lol
EDIT: Woah, speaking of profile pics, what the heck happened to mine....

The maximum dimensions were decreased while you were off the site, that's most likely why

I'm now curious, because there are many members who have gotten banned (some who started threads still popular in the Sandbox) who have the dying Mario, despite appearing to have contributed reasonably well. However, there are accounts unlikely to be unbanned who retain their profile pictures, including a Redigit imposter from 2 years ago.

I'd say it's a pretty random thing as to who actually keeps their avatar and who doesn't.

it depends on if i forget to remove the avatar before assigning the banned group

Is there any reason as to why the avatars are getting changed as opposed to, say, the rank?

A group can have a set avatar and rank. The Banned Users group has the Mario avatar and the "Banned" rank.

Going into a related topic here, but what if a normal user wanted to use the SMB3 Gameover sprite for their profile picture? Would they not be allowed or will they be able to have that, even though it could cause confusion as to whether the person is banned or not?

Regular members can't tint their username brown.

Or get the "Banned" rank as opposed to some enemy or character or something.

Why isn't it done like this:

where the Banned rank has the dead Mario where the normal rank image usually is, as opposed to replacing the avatar?
