Chocolate Contest X1 - Judge Applications (Submissions Closed)

Welcome to Chocolate Contest X1!

Judge applications: you will be sent 5 predetermined levels to review. The host team will then pick out the best applicants, who will then judge the contest levels. You have to review the levels linked near the bottom of the post.

Judge rules, tips and guidelines:

• You cannot participate in the competition if you're judging
• You have to review all 5 levels, no exceptions.
• Be sure to criticize constructively, not destructively. Being blunt is allowed but being rude is not. Also if a level is made with serious effort, give it a serious review. You can obviously make jokes in the review of a serious level but they shouldn't overshadow the legitimate feedback.
• Your reviews should separate scores in the way of: (you may use decimals)
  • Design & Gameplay - 0 to 10
  • Creativity - 0 to 4
  • Aesthetics - 0 to 2
  • Formula: Design * (Creativity + Aesthetics + 4)
  • Example: 6.5/10 Design, 2.5/4 Creativity, 1.5/2 Aesthetics -> 6.5 * (2.5 + 1.5 + 4) -> 6.5 * 8 = 52/100
  • You don't have to calculate the score yourself but you must give the level a score in all 3 categories
• You have to review the levels using SMBX2 Beta 4
• Make sure you mention how occupied you are likely to be in the summer as that's when the judging period is likely to be
• If you are successfully hired as a contest judge, you won't really have a deadline set in stone to review the levels but you shall generally try to finish them as soon as conveniently possible while assuring they're still good reviews. Important note: the amount of submissions can't really be estimated, so don't be shocked if there are going to be a lot more submissions than previous contests in the past 4 years

The judging period is estimated to start in late June.

I know DMing Shadowstar is a prerequisite that is required by all rights, though I just asked if judges had to announce they wanted to or not here as well. I should have asked Shadowstar vocally last night.

But if you want to be a judge, make sure you can and will put enough time into judging, as rushed reviews are not likely to be picked.

I will tell you I did not even finish my reviews and the reviews that were graded were my mach-ups. We know Enjl and 8luestorm made it.
