And would that go for all the Lua scripts made for ANY of the betas?

"Not everything will be compatible" is not the same as "everything will break always". Breaking changes are always denoted with a yellow text on the changelogs. Expect that level of breaking until after we're out of beta.

no. the beta label signifies potential compatibility breaks. if we were to retain compatibility indefinitely, the new characters and multiplayer would remain forever broken.
Thank you Enjl. :)

But I didn’t understand what that meant. :|

For a better understanding: I asked, because I would like to know if levels and episodes that have been created so far with SMBX 2 are compatible with the upcoming (full) major version of it. :)

It's likely that many will, but there is no guarantee. old version downloads will always remain available though so there'll be ways to play those that won't end up being made compatible, if they broke

IIRC Multiplayer doesn't even work, and all of the new characters except Wario and Uncle Broadsword are due to be rewritten from scratch, with Ninja Bomberman and Ultimate Rinka being replaced entirely.

Incidentally, there's still enough block IDs left for three new characters instead of two (if no one claims 698-700. Would also be best to move block 697 to 657 unless you're adding a semisolid player passthrough, though that would remove the third player slot)

Moving a block would break custom graphics made for it, so that's not gonna happen. There is a semisolid player passthrough on ID 1282.

You can use this lua script to enable that behaviour in your level / episodes. Here:

Hello,

I am using Windows 10 Pro Edition version 21H1 64 bit.

After installing the latest beta of SMBX 2 with a friend from the following link:

http://codehaus.wohlsoft.ru/downloads.php

the launcher and the editor could be started, but not the actual game. :| (To configure the controlls.)

Can someone help me, please?

Controls can be configured on the launcher with the controller button.

Not being able to start the game is weird. Could be an antivirus thing. Could also be due to not having installed the vc_redist.x64 file I think?
Those might be good starting points for troubleshooting the issue.

Thank you Enjl. :)

Someday I want to try again different things that I can use SMBX 2 without restrictions.

Friendly addition to my last message:

My question related to a PC with Windows 10, which is not a notebook.

Someday I would like to install SMBX 2 also on a notebook with Windows 11.

On every windows device I've used, I have gotten SMBX2 to work without issue. There are no inherent compatibility issues with the operating system. If there are problems, it is likely due to another software interfering.

I wish water leapers could not be frozen by ice balls or by any other harming method. It's really bothering when making autoscrollers with them since you can just freeze them with ice balls, completely ruining the level's progression.

You can use the noiceball=true NPC config flag to make any NPC immune to ice balls.
For overriding the harm types of something like for example a Podoboo or Trouter, you can override the harm types in your lua file as follows:
(for Podoboos, IDs 589 and 590):
local npcManager = require("npcManager")
npcManager.registerHarmTypes(589, {}, {});
npcManager.registerHarmTypes(590, {}, {});

Mind that registerHarmTypes overrides the harm types only for NPCs above ID 293. For NPCs with IDs below that, it ADDS the harm types to the ones it had in SMBX 1.3. If you want to make a 1.3 NPC more immune, you can instead cancel the onNPCHarm event.
(podoboos, again):
function onNPCHarm(event, npc, harmReason)
if harmReason ~= HARM_TYPE_OFFSCREEN then
if npc.id == 589 or npc.id == 590 then
event.cancelled = true
end
end
end

I don't know if any of these are on the roadmap but here are some things I want for SMBX2.
-Faster Load Times
-A Delete Save File Option (I tried speedrunning a episode in SMBX2 after coming out of TheXTech and deleting save files is so much slower)
-And lastly an Online Battle Mode (I think I said this already back in 2020 but you know)

Currently, the Local Battle Mode is practically broken, therefore, an improved/working version would be EPIC! Plus, I'd like the ability to make your very own Battle Levels, and maybe even Battle Level Packs for others to play. Hope this gets in!

You always could make your own battle levels. Just drop any level in the battle folder and the game will register it as one.

Am I supposed to create the Battle Folder? Or can I find it somewhere?
