Few Missing Items from Editor

Postby Mythos » Sat Aug 03, 2019 2:43 pm

First off, this editor is amazing. I remember making levels on an old Lunar Magic. I'm brand new to this editor so still figuring things out. I noticed a few things missing which seem odd.

-Cape Feather Power Up...seems weird that this was never added. It's such a integral part of smw.

-Diagonal slopes you can pass through. These are used a ton in smw.

-Buzzy Beetle that latches to ceiling and drops

-Random glass power up that constantly changes.

There are also a few things I haven't figured out yet:

How to change Mario's appearance from smb3 to smw for example.

Still haven't figured out how to make the ceiling move like in the cave levels. I suspect this is done with layers and some scripting? Same with water / lava?

Otherwise this seems to be a pretty powerful and awesome editor.

I'm pretty sure most of the items you mention in the opening post is 100% possible with Lunalua

Raccoon Leaf has basically the same abilities and is easier to handle when flying. The cape would be honestly superfluous

idk what you mean but, use custom graphics for backgrounds.
Mythos wrote:Random glass power up that constantly changes.

If you want a random power-up, use a random power-up. (granted it's missing the animation and the starman)
Mythos wrote:How to change Mario's appearance from smb3 to smw for example.

Custom graphics (in this case also known as player costumes)

Layers and events are enough to make things move up and down / back and forth.

Raccoon Leaf is not the same as SMW Cape feather, but it won't be added because dev team can't add more powerup slots so far. By diagonal slopes he meant semisolid slopes. Those are hard to do as i've heard, but it's doable. You can use layers to make that `random glass powerup` (seems like he is talking about smw one).

I said "basically not the same". And as I said the bounce flight mechanism of the feather is more stupid to handle than the smooth leaf flight.

But context of that post (part of it) is a bit different to what are you saying right now, i'm talking about this: `Raccoon Leaf has basically the same abilities`. plus it still doesn't means that they are the same thing.

Yeah, the random power up is a little different. The one in SMW will kind of let you skill the power up you want if you time it correctly. Plus it bounces around so there is a bit more skill involved. Cape (feather) you can fly indefinitely, so I could make some high skill levels with it. It's just not quite the same.

I also noticed there are no cape koopas. Unless I missed something?

Cape koopas definitely exist as custom graphics.

The Cape Koopas exist as custom graphics in a few episodes, like Return to Dinosaur Land.

The thing is:
Once you have figured out how to use Cape feather it is completely overpowered.

in which ways that don't apply to the leaf?

(and if that's already a statement then it speaks even more against adding the feather)

The Main Thing about the Feather being diffrent is that you can technically fly endless if the level allows it and you have enought skill/experience with it. Also
the Feather has a Stomp Landing if you handel it right, thought it's not too important.

You can use it to fly almost endless.
It's ridiculous how many levels in Super Mario World can be skipped entirely by using it.
