Can't get custom grapnics to be recognized

So, I'm doing this for my son, who is 12. We downloaded SMBX2 and he's been enjoying it a lot. He wanted a custom graphics pack, so we downloaded PROX's Graphics Pack v9.0. I followed the instructions in the tutorial to the letter, but when he opens the level he created, the custom graphics don't show. I'm about to pull my hair out trying to figure it out.

Here are the steps I did: I unzipped the pack. In Windows Explorer, I went to the Worlds folder in SMBX2 and created a new folder called Test Level. I went into SMBX2, created a level with the same name and saved it in the Test Level folder. I went back to the folder, and put the unzipped graphics pack in the Test Level folder (which was created when I saved the level and is a subfolder under the parent Test Level folder). Went back to SMBX2, reloaded the level and … nothing. Am I doing something wrong, based on what I just described?

Thanks in advance!

Don't make the graphics pack a subfolder of the level folder. Put all of the individual files into the level folder.

Put the graphics you want to use in the level's folder, not a subfolder of the level's folder.

Hmmmm. Thanks for the answers! I want to make sure I understand though. I was looking at one that came with it as a go-by, the one called Mario Challenge. Inside the Mario Challenge folder, there's the files that are .lvl, then each .lvl has a folder with that name, and inside those subfolders are all the graphics files. And it works fine.

So mine is the same, but it doesn't work fine. I have a folder called Test_Level, with my .lvl file. There's also subfolders that came with the pack that have all the graphics files. There eight folders in the pack, and one of them, Custom Tilesets, has 50 subfolders, and some of those have 250 files or more. I have to go into each of the folders, cut the files, and past them into my Test_Level folder, so they're all jumbled up together? That just doesn't make sense, especially since the Mario Challenge one isn't done that way.

As an experiment, I did copy a folder's worth of the graphics file straight into the same folder that my .lvl file is at, and it still didn't work. So maybe there's something else I'm doing wrong? Sorry if I sound frustrated! I'm just trying to make it work for my kid. :)

You don't put all files of all gfx pack subfolders into the level folder, only the ones you need inside the respective level.

Example: want to use it for an icy level? Only copy the files from the "Ice Tileset" subfolder.

Also I can assume you guys are using SMBX2PAL?

Only put the custom GFX you need in the level folder. Ex: You want an ice level, put ice-like graphics in the folder.
Also, what GFX pack are you using?
I asumme you guys are using SMBX2 PAL?

Thanks! We are using SMBX2 PAL. We were trying to use the PROX's Graphics Pack v9.0. We're on a trip right now, but when we get home I will try all suggestions!
