Disclaimer: This is completely unrelated to Astroclimber26's Super Mario 2D Land project.

I am currently in the process of remaking Super Mario 3D Land in SMBX2. This project aims to bring the 3D levels into 2D as accurately as possible, and comes with custom graphics, UI, and music. All custom graphics and UI will be hand drawn by me. I only plan to remake World 1 at the moment, however if there is enough interest I may continue this project further. There will not be a demo download at this stage as the project is in an unsatisfactory state to release in.

Please note that this is only compatible with SMBX2.

I love SM3DL!
I'll play this when it comes out, and maybe even make a let's play of it!

It looks pretty good. I do like the screenshots as they seem faithful to the original, but I would change the enemy and coins to match the rest of the art-style, just to make everything blend in a little better. Well done nonetheless.

I haven't gotten around to changing the NPC sprites to match them to the rest of the environment. Keep an eye out for a future update!

No this is in 2D. I named the project Super Mario 3D Land X in order to avoid confusion with Astroclimber26's project

I can't tell what's in the foreground and what isn't. Dark outlines help signify solidness. Use them! Right now, the tree in the back looks the most solid out of all custom objects in the 2nd image.

The concept of recreating 3D games and levels in 2D has always interested me and, judging by the screenshots, this project does look promising :D . Just a few things though.

Adding on to what MegaDood said, you might want to change the playable mario sprite also. Maybe this could work for the GFX style you're going for: https://smbxgame.com/forums/view ... hp?t=11826

Another thing, you might want to add slightly more to the World Map. I know what you were going for with the 3D world style but, because of how maps look in SMBX, it makes it seem bland and empty.

Otherwise, this seems like it would make for a pretty good episode. Keep it up!
