I'm totally lost

Postby didyouseepepe » Mon Jul 01, 2019 5:23 pm

Although it may seem ridiculous, I can't find anything.

I downloaded the PAL version of SMBX2.
When I installed it, it created a direct access to my desktop.
I ran it and nothing happened, I took a look at the task manager and there was a process called SMBXLauncher.exe * 32 - Super Mario Bros X 2.0
I waited around 5 minutes and nothing happened.

My question is whether something will happen if I wait longer, or if I have to run another program in the folder, or if it is an error.

What do you mean by "nothing happened"? Does the launcher just not open?

Kinda I think

I do not know what was supposed to happen.
I would appreciate it if you sent me an image of the launcher's main screen, so I can tell you if it happened or not.

As the person looking for help you should document your issue further, e.g. with screenshots, just explain what you did with more than just words

Here's what I did

Postby didyouseepepe » Wed Jul 03, 2019 4:53 pm

Ok, so I went into the installation folder, and I opened the file called "SMBX2.exe".

Although I had not installed the vc_redist, which in my case should have been 64-bit, I already had a later version.
Image

So as I thought there would be no problem, I ran the file. The Task Manager showed this process:
Image

As I saw that nothing was happening, I thought it would take a while to start, so I left it open for about half an hour, nothing happened, so I closed it and looked for .exe files in the folder. I found one called "pge_editor.exe".
Image

When I executed it, the editor opened, or what appeared to be one (It shows in Spanish 'cause I'm from Mexico).
Image

I also ran the "SMBXLauncher.exe" and nothing happened either.

I ran the "smbx.exe" Image and it showed the following screen:

I clicked on editor and this screen appeared:

So my question is if something has to happen with the launcher or if it's just to be able to play levels or something like that.
I hope I have explained well.

did it ask for a specific version? and if so, did you try downloading it?

It didn't, so I thought it was fine.

It was in C:\Program Files but I moved it to a folder in the Documents library. I don't know if that would have caused an issue.

It has a issue with launching from Program Files directory, try placing the folder on the desktop and launch it from there.
