NSMB DS Project

This is an Idea I had for years, and I tried doing this before, using actual graphics from the game but that got nowhere. Now that I set rules for myself I actually remade the entire game, kinda. Not everything is spot on from the original, as I have no skill in lunalua coding, So I did the best I can in "vanilla" SMBX 2.0 BETA 3. Some elements are remade and some are changed completely.

Progress:
New Super Mario Bros DS Remake is out NOW! Get it by clicking the link below!

Major Changes:
  • Since BETA 4 isn't viable to make projects on yet, star coins wont be tracked in game, which means you'll have to manually track them yourself. But collecting all coins in a stage rewards you with a star, which can be used when you beat the game.
  • Star paths from the original are removed, as well as Red Flying ? Blocks and hammer bros from the Map.
  • Luigi is unlocked form the start.
  • Mushroom houses don't disappear in exchanged for more rare and luck based items in it.
  • The Mega Mushroom and Mini Mushroom is replaced with the Leaf, Ice Flower, Tanookie Suit, and Hammer Suit.
  • The Realistic Graphics on the DS is changed to a classic Mario All-stars Style.
  • The Flag Pole is replaced by the roulette cards, and the Hud is more of a SMB3 Style.
  • Koopalings are the tower bosses, as well as Bowser Jr, and different Boss that are usually basic bosses in SMBX. Sorry.
  • The Blue House rewards you with
    Spoiler: show
A New Level, Another Playable Character, New Ending, And Yoshi.
  • World 4 and 7 are now accessable by beating the boss normally, so you beat worlds traditionally and linearly.

Cool! I'd say before a final release you should wait for Beta 4 and see what content it comes with (besides star coins). There's already a preview version called SMBX2 MaGLX3

Thanks for the replay! I'm a bit impatient to wait for it, but I think I'll put this on that build and improve on it when it does come out. I played with it and it is very promising!

Beta 4 is pretty certain to come before 2020.

I like how this looks because it seems quite true to the original. Though the giant Unagi is a chomp shark, I can see what you're conveying. Also I really am looking forward to see how the sewer level is with the rising water and ground pound platforms. Good luck with it.

Thank you for the feedback! I'm just debugging and polishing this project so I can't wait to see how this is viewed.

Should I delete this topic now since it's pointless?

Wouldn't you be able to contact a staff member to lock it though?
