Are there any games out there you think don't receive the amount of attention they deserve or where simply overlooked by bigger releases?

I'll start off by mentioning Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, a DS puzzle game developed by Capcom. It has one of the weirdest and best plots I've seen in a game, as expected by Shu Takumi, the writer of the Ace Attorney series. At the start of the game, the protagonist wakes up with memory loss and no idea of where he is, only to find a dead body next to him and realizing that he is a ghost. As a ghost, he has the ability to manipulate objects around him, which he uses to figure out what is going on in his town and who he is.

I think Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, & Platinum are very underrated, even if I don't like them,

Without a doubt this.
One of the most underrated hidden gems on the SNES and Genesis.

I easily get confused with the words "underrated" and "overrated", what do they mean exactly?

Something that is "Underrated" means that this something is less known.

While something that is "Overrated" is something that was way too well known.

Underrated - underestimate the extent, value, or importance of (someone or something).
Overrated - have a higher opinion of (someone or something) than is deserved.

Oh well. I think "Yoshi Touch & Go" for the DS is underrated although I enjoyed it a lot

Super Smash Flash. I had lots of fun playing this with my cousin.
If it has to be a "real" video game, I think Zelda II is somewhat underrated, although it's normal because of how hard it is.

Does super smash flash count as a video game? But yeah I agree that its underrated.

Can't blame you. And it has a original battle system

Nicktoons Unite for GameCube is an insanely fun co-op experience with 4 people.

Mario Party 8 gets a lot of bad talk because of Wii jank, but it has some of my favorite maps in the series and makes me feel super nostalgic.

I feel as the Mario & Luigi games are pretty underrated. they are one of my favorite games.

By definition, "underrated" means that something is underestimated, so even though Plok might receive more attention than other games that have been mentioned in this thread, it might still not be the amount of attention it truly deserves.

I enjoyed a lot M&L Partners in Time for the DS and it's really underrated

Same here, I kinda feel Mario Party 9 is underrated too

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is underrated (I think) despite of having an amazing soundtrack
