SMB3 Custom Grassland + NPCs (V2)

Postby PopYoshi » Thu Apr 11, 2019 3:50 pm

Hey! PopYoshi here!

I'm very proud to show you this, because it's the first good tileset I do and that isn't a recolor!

Today I bring you a custom grassland tileset that gives some Terraria vibes! Now updated with more BGOs tiles!
And now the stone has a new texture

Enjoy the green environment and run in the fields at day and play with your nightly friends at night!

These look incredible. The amount of detail on them is amazing. Keep up the good work.

What do you mean?
If you mean the lamps they are exclusive of the nightly tileset

By light source, I mean the areas that the light source hits. The way you shaded your graphics makes it look like the light source is all over the place. One prime example is the tree. The treetop has the light hitting it from the top left, while the trunk has the light hitting it from the top right. Overall, it's very inconsistent. It's very evident that you just copied the tiles and flipped them over. I can see that in the rocks and the fences. They're a perfect mirror of each other and they haven't been changed in the slightest. It also causes them to loop weird as well which makes it look very unnatural. I also noticed that you copy pasted the same patterns over and over in the tree trunk which, again, makes it look very glitchy and unnatural. I can tell that you're inexperienced in this, so I would probably read up on some things that could definitely help you.

This one in particular does a really good job at explaining how light sources work:

Also one other thing: Try not to make your fill patterns look like they were looped. Try and mask that as best as you can. You can usually tell when you see an obvious repeated pattern.

Maybe I should have thinked about fixing the tree trunk in the first place
I would lie if I say I didn't notice most of the issues you mentioned

Thank you PROX!

Still doesn't work, really weird why I'm having this problem. I had issues with mega in the past too. It says I need a decryption key.

Maybe it doesn't appear to you because you're the owner. The problem isn't just on Yoshi_Superstar's end

Sadly not everyone has a good PC and a good internet
Drive and Mediafire won't load no matter how much I try
I just can download stuff from Mediafire
