So, you're saying you tried to play with a wired controller? Don't waste your time, I had problems with that b4. And I was also reminded that SMBX2 isn't controller friendly

Wait when smbx updates you will need a controller to play the game! I only use a laptop and I don’t have a controller!

What do you mean about the "Needing a controller to play the new SMBX update" thing?!? SMBX2 and the previous installments was NEVER controller friendly in the 1st place*!

*Not trying to be mean or anything...

I think the best fix to controller issues would be to use a modern, standard controller (I.E: Xbox One/PS4/Switch) if you aren't already. At least for me, Xbox One controllers and Nintendo Switch Joycons work natively in SMBX (any version). No third party software (like JoyToKey) required.

FTR, in SMBX 2 Beta 3, I had no trouble mapping my gamepad to the various game functions. None.

Yeah, me neither. It must just be a JoyToKey or XInput thing. I usually use an Xbox One controller. I just install a driver online, plug in the controller, run the driver, and I'm good to go.
