Yeah, Lava + Magma/Lava is normally not that senseful to a Mario Game but once we/you are thinking about that, maybe we get more ideas like Lava and Water playing together and actually look good. No idea if Ice and Lava works too because Super Mario Galaxy (2) had that.

Those are fair points. I'm picturing a volcanic underwater level now, and I don't think it'd look bad actually, especially if the tilesets/background/etc. looked somewhat burned.

Newer had this aswell in World 5 the Freezeflame one where it had a Ice cave with lava. So if mixing both together in a sense way it makes a good thing.

I was also wondering why no one has done this kind of level so I decided to make a lava ice level.

Also, cutoff in the upper right corner. 66/100 for some reason.

Jokes are getting really old. Seriously.
@zlakerboy357: This looks nice actually. I really like how you used it.
Maybe we should do make more levels like this...

Lava and Ice together are done in other games too; in addition to SMG2, the Freezeflame Galaxy in the original Super Mario Galaxy was fire and ice.

Yeah, something like that but what is with Water + Lava? This will be interesting for a Level instead of just Ice + Lava.

I think water-lava relations would be an interesting thing to explore. My MTG guild explores it, why can't SMBX?

SMBX also can add everything graphic-based and NPC's that it has a lot of variety to make a Water + Lava based Level without fear to have and actually look good like what @zlakerboy357 showed to us.

I thought this was about Water + Lava, not Ice + Lava...?
There's nothing wrong with Water + Lava, it's actually a really nice concept, and I used it in my level.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too around on this posts.
I also made a Level that has Water and Lava in it but that is a old one, sadly...

I think I probably need to be a bit better at making levels first before trying.

Do not worry, you have like a lot of time to create a contructive Level that has a Gimmick like that where Water + Lava is involved.

"F*ck you Einstein! Let's make a level with water + lava!"
It sounds like a cool idea. As Lava boils water into Steam, this can possibly make a cool gimmick when you have to activate smoke sensors to advance.

Is there a way to make boiling water that gradually hurts Mario? For example, like the freezing water in SM64's Snowman's Land or one level in Newer Super Mario Bros Wii

Yeah, you can take an unmoving, immortal NPC (donut block, conveyor belt, SMB2 stackable mushroom block with nogravity, etc.) and apply a bunch of NPC codes to it. Playerblock/top=0, npcblock/top=0, nohurt=0, jumphurt=1, (grabtop/side=0 in the case of mushroom blocks, etc.) and then just place them in the water. Jumphurt makes it impossible for donut blocks to fall or conveyors to push, so they work pretty well in recreating basic hurt fields, and you can still swim in them.
