Game lags/getting it to work on a new PC

I was working on a project and took some time off from it and now that I'm back to working on it, it now lags quite badly. Granted, this laptop I'm on has been going downhill lately, as it's more than a few years old at this point. So maybe it's that. I have reinstalled the program and copy/pasted all my work into the folders again. That didn't help.

But I did buy a new high end gaming laptop a few months ago but SMBX didn't want to work on that one. It would open up and everything but the editor screen would be completely black and I couldn't actually edit anything or open any levels. I was kind of hoping someone here could maybe help me get it to work on a newer PC, as I'm sure some settings somewhere on the computer just need to be tweaked or something.

What SMBX version are you using?

If you are using 1.3/1.3.0.1 then I suggest upgrading to SMBX 2.0. It's the same 1.3 engine but with bug fixes and improvements. It also includes a new and better editor, give it a try and see if it fixes your issue.

Yeah, I'm using 1.3. If I download 2.0, will I be able to copy/paste my old levels into 2.0? Or will I need to start over?

Yes you can as 2.0 (beta 3) is just 1.3 with added luna lua, pge editor and few new stuff like new playables and some new npcs.

You won't have to start over, everything made in 1.3 guarantees compatibility with 2.0

Good to hear. So I've been testing the game out and one thing I've noticed is powerups that come out of the blocks completely zoom to the left or right and off screen. Is this a known issue?

Are you using the Alpha tester?

Yeah, I'm using alpha. But I realized it's not all powerups that do this. It's only the starman.

EDIT: Never mind. I just found out I should be playing the level and not just using the tester. Now it makes sense.

Make sure you never use alpha tester and use LunaTester instead
