On a seemingly normal day, Professor E.Gadd visited the Castle to show off his most recent invention. It was a strange machine that could take specifically particles in the air and turn them into useful Items like Mushrooms and Fire Flowers.
The machine proved to be a success with it producing almost perfect replicas… Until…
The machine’s power was turned up too high, causing a black hole to appear due to the immense pressure. Everyone in the castle at the time was absorbed and mysteriously transported to the Flower Kingdom, the neighbouring Kingdom to the Mushroom Kingdom.
With no Mario or Luigi in sight, it’s all up to you, a single Toad, to find everyone else and find a way back home!
Hey everyone, its been a while since I've been on here, its also been a while since I've worked on TBQ because of exams and stuff. Don't worry though, I haven't given up on the project! I will continue to work on it and eventually post a second demo once I reach a certain point.
Anyways, here is my progress with the game, I will be updating this every time I finish a world: World 1 [Flower Fields]: Complete! 5/5 Levels World 2 [Rocky Ridge]: Complete! 7/7 Levels (End of Old Demo) World 3 [Endorphin Enclave]: Complete! 8/8 Levels World 4 [Half-Hot Half-Cold]: Complete! 8/8 Levels (End of Current Demo) World 5 [???]: Workin' on it! 0/6 Levels World 6 [???]: World 7 [???]:
This is my first actual SMBX project; I emphasise actual as all of my previous works weren’t very good to say the least.
This Demo showcases the first two worlds of Toad’s Bizarre Quest. By the time I finish this, I intend to have 7 worlds each with an average of 6/7 levels meaning there should be around 40 unique levels by the end. It will definitely take a while since I’m working solo on this but it will all be worth it in the end.
Downloads: NOTE: This Episode is for 1.4.4! Please be sure to use this version or else the game won’t work correctly!
Also NOTE that this is merely a Demo, so things can and probably will change in the final game.
(Yes, I do know about the update to 1.4.5 and no, I will not be using it due to some changes to the engine which would mess with the project and it's levels.)
(If any of these links are broken, please tell me so that I can fix them.)
If you need more info about the game and its levels, I left .txt files in the download file which contain: Credits (what GFX packs I used and what games I took music from), a Music List for all the levels and a few extra Notes.

Did you just make a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure reference in the title of your SMBX?!?
lol, I'm joking. looks pretty interesting for a 1.4.4 episode btw

Cool project, i like the trailer but i think the zooming parts went for a bit too long. Also original bosses adds this project to the list of episodes i would play when they get finished.

Thank's for the feedback. I will remember this when I eventually make the trailer for the full game.

This looks really nice. Toad episodes are always cool as I feel like he's the least used character. Also no I'm not going to make the obligatory Jojo reference.

I'd suggest to reverse the order of health dots (i.e. red above blue), according to SMB2
I've started playing through your episode, and so far it is pretty fun. The game play and platforming is pretty simple and basic (though I don't find that bad), but nonetheless it's kept me pretty entertained. The graphics are great and I love the music you chose (I think I heard some Kero Blaster music, great choice). Now, I personally don't use SMBX 38A, only to play others' episodes, and this episode makes me glad that I have it installed. Can't wait till the next demo, I am definitely looking forward to it!

I'm glad to hear that you like it. As for the platforming, I was trying to go for a NSMB style which probably explains why its "simple and basic" :'-)
I'm also planning on releasing a second demo once I've finished with World 4 - then eventually the full game.

This looks really neat for a beginner! I like all your screenshots, although I do have a slight complaint with the 2nd World Map shot. I would recommend not mixing map tiles like that (Grass/Desert), but once again, everything looks amazing! And yea, neat HUD. That looks like fun to play around with.
Same but if it those tiles had some kind of boundary that would make them fit together, then it would be fine imo
Those map tiles are from Witchking666's Graphics Pack. There are no "boundaries" that allow them to fit together. He's better off just changing them to desert tiles again.

I have made a section dedicated to my progress in the main post so you can see where I am in development.

Sweet! I was worried for a bit that you may have vanished entirely. Glad that you're still here, and I can't wait for the next demo to release!

Gotta be so careful with matching graphics these days, looks like you are doing that. Looks good
