Metroid Prime 4 - Delayed and Restarted

This thread is to discuss Metroid Prime 4.

If you thought that development was going through at a reasonable pace and the game was going to come put some time soon (as it was announced at E3 2017) then you are wrong. Nintendo has announced development was going horribly and therefore will be restarting, now developing the game with Retro Studios and it will all be happening under one roof, instead developing it over serveral different countries. This will mean that it may another couple of years before we see the game come out but it will mean the game will likely be better.

I am fine with this decision as i can wait. It's better to have a well designed game that takes long to get made than a rushed bad designed game. However idk what the hardcore metroid fans think of this.

I really haven't played the first 3 Metroid Prime games ever in my life tbh..... But I guess delaying the game is for the best

There are rumours that Metroid Prime Trilogy (a remake of the first 3 Metroid Prime games) for the Switch is complete (and was supposed to be announced last month along with Metroid Prime 4, but it didn't happen due to Prime 4 being restarted). If true, then Nintendo should release as it would calm down the less patient fans of the series, as well as bring in new fans who could play the first 3 games and be excited for the 4th.

That's actually a really good decision as people like me who haven't played Metroid Prime can enjoy it on the switch and get even more hyped for Prime 4.

Heck, I didn't know that there were 3 Metroid Primes and a fourth one in development.

The Switch version of the Trilogy is bad news for me. The Delay for the fourth one is good news though. I have the Wii U version of the Trilogy which is just an E-shop port of the Wii version. I have 100%ed the first two of the trilogy. My Let's Play on the third one has been halted do to my PC lagging the game to a very substantial point that any video footage would not be worth keeping. (I have nothing but OBS and Discord's Screenshare on when recording from my capture card.) For those who are interested in some of Retro Studios's work on the trilogy, I can link my Let's Play to the curious.

I completely agree with you. It really shows that Nintendo's putting extra love into this game, and I hope it turns out to be the Prime game everyone wants.
