Minecraft or Terraria?

Postby xtremegamer51 » Tue Apr 29, 2014 11:56 pm

Topic is simple,do you prefer Minecraft or Terraria?
For me its hard to decide,in Terraria theres a lot of things, like tons of bosses, items, ores, weapons, monsters etc.But in Minecraft theres way less, but since its 3D you can really make anything you want, and theres a creative mode which is a really nice mode to have in my opinion. But sinces theres not many things in it like bosses, items and pretty much less of everything compared to Terraria it is possible for it to get boring, but there is mods, like mo creatures.

So yeah, for me its sort of even, but what do you prefer?(And yes,if your also even you can pick both but instead of being able to select both of the answers im gonna have a both option)

This is like comparing cheesecake with watermelons.

Minecraft is more exploration-oriented while Terraria is more combat-oriented. Add to that the different perspectives and you get two games which hardly have anything in common.

I personally get bored after playing 15 minutes of Minecraft. I only use it to play Hide N Seek or Cops N Robbers.

They say that Terraria is a Minecraft clone but from what little experience I have with Terraria (and a lot of experience with Minecraft) they don't seem to be nearly as similar as people think. What Emral said is right.

Unlike Emral, though, I do like Minecraft a lot… But I don't have enough experience with Terraria to say which one is better. Terraria would definitely benefit from non-Windows versions as well for those of us (me!) who can only run a relatively crappily emulated version of Windows on their Mac or similarly don't really have access to good Windows.

Like Emral said, Terraria and Minecraft have huge differences, but if I were to choose one of the games, I'd say Terraria. It has much more content, it's more difficult, doesn't look as blocky (lol), and is simply more fun and entertainable for a longer time than Minecraft is.

Although it's true that "Terraria is a Minecraft clone," is an overstatement, they aren't too different either. A lot of general ideas are shared between the games where it only leaves the differences of combat and exploration to be discussed. That said, I'd prefer Minecraft because I like exploring and building more than fighting.

They are different games with just some similarities. And this is about opinions. They differ. And Emral seems to have said the same thing.

qig and Namyrr: A+

Anyway, I don't see why people say "these two things are different so why compare them". That's the point of comparing. One wouldn't compare two things if they're the same.

To answer the question, Alpha Terraria > Minecraft > Current Terraria. I would take Terraria as it was in March 2011 over Minecraft any day, but current Terraria just has too much stuff.

what do you mean it has "too much stuff"
it's not like you HAVE to use the majority of things in the game

Too much stuff to have to obtain to do cool stuff, yeah. Does Terraria have creative mode yet? I haven't been keeping up. That's part of what makes me play Minecraft, also easy multiplayer on Xbox.

Getting all the endgame stuff takes a lot of time. The game loses its charm by that point.

I thought I posted here, oh well.

I like Minecraft because of the more creative feel, it's a great sandbox game.

I like Terraria because of it's exploration and combat, as well as it's vast amount of items that cater to a lot of different people.

Both are equally fun, and they're totally different games. I find that I've been playing Terraria more than Minecraft recently, but a new update was pushed and I feel as if I haven't played Terraria in a long while, so I've taken a break from Minecraft indefinitely. Both games get boring for me after a long while, but eventually I'll weave my way back into them.

Guess what, Terraria has multiplayer and good stuff, too. And actually, Terraria has more good stuff than Minecraft has.
