A very well-known group of people known as Hypixel, which are known for their Minecraf Maps and hosting the largest Minecraft server, have now formed a game company called Hypixel Studios, and have announcd their first game, which looks like a spiritual successor to Minecaft.
You can find more information about Hytale here

Hytale looks amazing and it will provide me with my long lasting wish for Minecraft to become more RPG-ish.
I am seriously hyped for it. Screw minecraft, hytale is better imo.
I don't think Hytale will kill Minecraft, but their co-existence will definitely result in some serious competition and may contest the possiblilty of Minecraft becoming the best selling game ever, although Hytale's platform (PC/Mac) is not the biggest source of Minecraft's sales, so at the moment, Minecraft will still prevail as the larger game for years to come (at least for as long as Hytale is not ported to other platforms).
I don't feel like Hytale just has the lovable flair that Minecraft just seems to naturally have. The graphics are overworked and not great from what I've seen and it just doesn't seem much different from any other 3D sandbox game like Minecraft. My guess is that it'll tank before anything significant comes out of it
I will certainly have an effect but I highly doubt it will ''replace'' minecraft in any way. Minecraft is already popular and it fans will probably to stick to it, and even if they plays hytale, it doesn't mean they'll abandon it.
Like the infinite worlds of Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions? Hytale will have the same. Worlds will also be split into 6 zones, which 4 have been announced, with zones 5 and 6 so far unknown for now. The zones will be used for story and progression of the game, which gets more difficut with each zone, and hopefully proide some more variety to worlds since in Minecraft, the variety is lost once you travel a few thousand blocks. There will be many structures that generate throughout a world (some designed to only spawn once in a world and are likely tied to the story). Beyond the last zone will be the infinite lands, which will generate for the remainder of the world, although the story won't go into this area.
Well... it will probably, but it won't be easy because since the beginning Minecraft was very popular and has one of the larger fanbases ever, it's hard to overcome a game like Minecraft, but maybe it can be like the equivalent to a 3D Starbound which is the game that "overcomed" Terraria (haven't seen much of it, and I like Terraria a lot)
But Hytale looks like what I wanted Minecraft to be, but as I said it'll be hard to overcome Minecraft which I think can be considered a classic game
I do hope Hytale would have a better world/zone randomizer.
*Crosses fingers*
Don't think the zones are randomized. The zones are designed to be progressed through if you want to follow the story line, and have their own rules for generating biomes in them. The zones will likely become more hostile as you progress through them.
If you want terrain generation that resembles more closely to Minecraft's, then the infinite lands are accross the ocean, so it is likely terrain generation will be more randomized there. Or you can change the generation with mods o how you like it.
If you need more details on terrain generation, read this blog post.

Also, how do you think the game will be monetized? There has been quite a bit of discussion on this, and the Hytale team has not decided on their business model yet. Will it be free to play, relying on microtransactions, passes, DLC etc, or will you have to pay for the game?
I hope that HytaleDOESN'T rely on microtransactions. Otherwise, I'm gonna avoid the game
But it may also be in their best interest to make their game free, as it will bring in more players (games like Fortnite got poular by being free). Microtransactions would be used to make money from the game, but I would imagine that if this business model was used, it would likely be for cosmetics and be centered around the servers (Large minecraft servers like Hypixel need to have a microtransaction system to exist anyway, so if microtransactions are exclusive to servers, then it is not much different here anyway), and not impede the single player experience.
I thought Minecraft was dying, and now Hytale, a very similar looking block game, is born 10 years after Minecraft was originally made? It probably will grow to be as popular as Minecraft was in its early years, but definitely will not overtake it.
Zones and Infinite Worlds sound like a cool idea, but if the world inside the story part of the game was to be the same every time, it would get stale after a while. Infinite worlds may help with that, but you still need to actually get to that part of the map to enjoy them.

The zones are still procedurally generated.
And I would hope that you could just cross the oceans if you want to experience the infinite lands without going through the story (though I would advise against it, especially on your first world, since it would be worth experiencing the story).

This would be interesting and add lots of possibilities if space travel was in the game (note that this is not confirmed, but a possibility since Hytale has produced concept art of other planets).
Do you think this means space travel, or could it be something else (maybe sommething similar to how the Nether and End work in Minecraft).

Avoid this unofficial community, HytaleHub, at all costs as it turns out they have been doing shady and illegal shit, including doxing and threatening competitors such as Hytale News.
On a more positve note, read these two new blogposts
The first one is about music and clarifications, and the second looks into a part of the game's creative mode.

HytaleHub? What's the difference between that and Hytale?
