So I just downloaded SMBX 2.0 but it's treating like a document and not a file. Why is this happening?

Have you extracted it properly? Can you screenshot what you've done?

You should extract the downloaded file and open SMBXLauncher.exe. Have you done it? Just opening the .7z file won't work.
Well sorry if this is wrong, but I didn't understand you at all, but as Cedur said, send a screenshot and we will know more about what's happening.

I got it, but when I click open with 7zip Installer, it keeps asking me to install it even though I did

If you just right-click, there should be a menu item saying "7-zip" with various options to choose from?

It only says 7zip installer, not 7zip

Have you installed 7-zip? Afterwards it should change to showing the 7-zip file manager. If it doesn't, you can just navigate to where you installed 7-zip and select 7zfm.exe as the default file to open 7z files with.

You're double clicking not right clicking it. Then as was mentioned after right clicking a little menu should come up with 7zip as an option

Did you try looking in Program Files (86x) or Program Files? 7-Zip might be there.

You had to confirm your installation location when installing 7-zip. You don't really have any reason NOT to know where its installation lies. Reinstall if you forgot, or use Windows Explorer to search for 7zFM.

I found 7zFM, but I'm not sure how to set it to the default for opening 7z files

When Windows asks you what file you want to open 7z files with, select Browse to browse for options beyond the few it suggests, and navigate to and select the 7zFM executable.

Have you attempted pressing the "More apps" button? At the bottom after expanding it is another button that just opens a file explorer for you to use to search.
Windows Basics Yo.
