Why would you need to know the ban reason of certain users?

I don't need to know. But in many websites like this (forums, servers, etc), the users can see the ban reason of banned users.

You just answered your own question. There's no reason for the general public to need to know specifics of many cases. If for some reason you believe it is relevant to some situation you're in you can always PM a staff member and at our discretion we may be able to provide some details if a circumstance came up where it was necessary

Sometimes it's obvious from looking at their posts, sometimes it's not. In the latter case it's also sometimes for being an alt. Raster, michel and Pixels are banned because of HSMBXC.
But yeah looking at you not needing to know anyways, I think it's good that there's no public ban log, because it often goes down into shaming the banned beyond just their punishment

I agree with Cedur,
Because of the shaming part

I am sometimes curious as to why certain users got banned but its better if we don't know why.
(However if we did know why did they got banned , then maybe, just maybe we would know how to avoid certain problems or conflicts that might lead to a ban of other users)

Good point. PixelPest and Cedur also gave good points. Now I understand why is not important know the users' ban reasons.

Isn't that literally what the forum rules are for?

^ this. People are only banned because they break the forum rules. Knowing the specific rule and context on which they were banned is unnecessary. You should just be able to follow the rules

True. I once saw a ban reason for a user, and it was kinda weird. (I still don't want to know XD)
But, this was on another website.
But, what if somebody interprets the rules incorrectly, (just a stretch) and does something against the rules without wanting to.
Again, just a stretch, but seeing a users' ban reason might help to know what rules influence and how to avoid doing a simple mistake as to not understanding.
I suggest making the users' ban reason appear in the "flair" area, (it getting replaced with Reason: or something close) so when people see a banned user, they can just click a little drop down menu, (or a small round button that when clicked it opens a small generated URL including the reason.)
Again nobody take this seriously, just wondering.

Users usually are warned for inappropriate behaviour before a ban.

Which is why my suggestion isn't useful;
Or, the option should only appear if "appropriate" for those who see it. (Say the banned user spammed too much, that's not too inappropriate.)

Spam directly violates rule 2.

Alright, I won't discuss with a moderator.
If we don't have to see the reason, we don't have the reason.
Simple as that.
