What are those bots?

Everytime the board index says that there are online users called "Baidu", "Bing", "Google" and "Majestic-12", but also says that they are bots. I'm not sure what they are. Their profiles cannot be viewed, they are always online, and them don't post anything as well. Any thoughts about them?

Search engines have to crawl through websites to find search results in one way or another...

Google is a search engine which is why it is one of the bots.

Google is a search engine which is why it is one of the bots.
I know, I wanted to say that for that reason one of them is called Google.
Sometimes I can explain something in the way I want because my english is very bad 
And what means "Spider"?
(Baidu has Spider rank while the other ones have Bot)

Read the article above, it says that "spider" is a synonym.

Yea they are 100% search engines, but the SMBX forums, or the entire website doesn't use Bing as a search, if anything.

What I mean is does SMBX even use Bing for it's search, or does it have to stay there in case somebody set their search engine to Bing, so then SMBX knows it has to load the Bing (Bot)
Am I right..?

these bots crawl many forums in existence, it has nothing to do with any user's individual settings

As Cedur mentioned that has absolutely nothing to do with it. When you use a search engine it of course has to collect data from as many websites as possible so that it can give you the most accurate search results. All these webcrawlers are doing is taking data from the SMBX website (post contents, etc.) for the search engines to use. (This isn't very precise or super accurate but that's the general idea)
