What if Redigit continued with SMBX?

Postby MmmMario » Wed Oct 03, 2018 11:34 pm

Has anyone ever wondered what would've happened if Redigit hadn't been requested by Nintendo to stop progress on SMBX?

Would we have LunaLua or the PGE? Would the source code been released to the public, and new versions of SMBX would pop up all over the place? Would we have as much content as we have/will have in SMBX 2.0? Did SMBX benefit from Redigit stopping production?

It's more likely he considered the engine "finished" when he stopped working on it and that he had gotten tired of it and wanted to move onto other projects, and that if there was a takedown request it was moreso directed at the website which was running ads, hosting tens of mario fangames and using an url that could be mistaken for an official nintendo url.
