Round 2 - Electric Boogaloo
Again, a quick recap for those who forgot and those who weren't there last month:
Each month, users can nominate the episodes they want to see featured (given that it hasn't been featured already). The nominations then get added to a poll where everyone can vote. The graphic/episode with the most votes gets featured on the main page the following month. The first two weeks of the month, everyone can nominate the episodes and graphics packs they'd like to see featured in this thread, where they will be added to a list. The third and fourth week of the month, all nominations are put on a poll.
This month, I want to try it a little differently though. Instead of one vote, everyone gets to vote for all nominations they think deserve to make the cut, so the most voted nomination will be the one that the most people agree on.
Nominated Episodes:
- Mario & The Mushroom Genie
- The Restoration
- Mix World 2 : The Star Seeker
- Super Mario Miracle
- New Super Mario Galaxy X
- Mario Classic
Nominated GFX Packs:
- PROX's Box Full of Graphics
- FanofSMBX's Graphics Pack
- Dragonmaster146's GFX Pack
- MyNameIsEric's GFX Pack
And now for something completely different.
The State of Such Things
For how long will we put up featured content every month?
The featured content pages are supposed to be there to display to visitors of our page what SMBX and its community are capable of. I think of it a little like a hall of fame for content, stuff that should be seen by everyone.
We've been able to feature an array of incredible content since the "Featured"'s revival, given that it's been a while since 2014 and a lot of great stuff came out during that time.
However, I feel the longer this goes on, the more the status of Featured will become trivial, and the feature pages will become just as cluttered as the episodes/graphics forum.
Therefore, I want to retire the concept of Monthly Features after this year.
Now, before people lose all hope in their content ever making it to the front page after 2018, let me clarify.
I would like to change up the system to be less of a timed thing and more of a general concept. Something like "graphic packs that reached so and so many downloads". Now, because that's hard for me to keep track off and easy to fake, I'd like to go with the middle ground, which is having episodes and graphic packs be featured in larger intervals, such as bi-annually or even annually. That way, there is time for great content to be released and for the cream to rise to the top. Then once or twice a year, or maybe every three months, we have polls to decide what really needs to be seen by the world.
Let me know what you think of the concept below, and don't forget to nominate your episodes and graphic packs!
