Please don't make fun of my logo, I tried really hard. :(

So this is another project Wind and I have been planning on for a long, long, long time. It will be Super Metroid styled for the most part. There's one level styled after Metroid Fusion, too. The game will play in a hub that's a loose replica of planet Zebes from Super Metroid. We'll obviously be using my Samus sprites replacing Link but for now I think we won't be restricting the player to Link only, the other characters will be available, too.

Have some screenshots:
Spoiler: show

There's no story yet, we'll work on it!

All the levels we've completed so far have been released at one point but I don't feel like reposting the Tourian level as that will be the final level probably. I'd post Abandoned Facility, Wind's CC3 entry, but I can't find screenshots and I'm too lazy to take those so... Here's Brinstar Vegetation, my CC4 entry. http://www.smbxgame.com/forums/v ... =32&t=2203

Bad idea because Peach can Float, Samus can't.

Chasing Enemies like Para Koopas or Para Goombas.

Your progression of your Project looks very nice, even know I still reconizes nearly all of your screenshots, I am really looking forward to your Project.

It would be nice if you explains us how it will work. In fact, Super Metroid have power-ups only in some points and you can fight with bosses only one time.
Also I've some spritesheets of Super Metroid tiles that may could help you.

We'll be providing special power-ups as frequently as in a classic Mario game as obviously restricting power-ups to one location only would cause a lot of problems. Bosses only appearing once can be executed by using SMW Stars. And thanks, we'll turn to you if we happen to need help with the tilesets. I think we have most of them covered.

Sorry but you never answered the metroid question.
I ask because the metroids can only be hurt by ice, then missile: I don't know any enemy like that in SMBX.

You're seriously getting on everyone's nerves by making remarks like this constantly. No, of course the Metroids will not act exactly like in Super Metroid, because this engine isn't Super Metroid, this is Super Mario Bros. X. They'll be like how bossedit8 described.

Don't tell me you found this out after playing one of the games :D
Darkonius Mavakar wrote:peach would be more suited for this?

But peach also would need the Bomb Suit to be able throwing Bombs while Link can stag up to 9 and then it looks like samus is using them after all Samus and Link can sprint as seen in Super Metroid Samus can. And yeah Link does fit a bit better.

Oh dear shall better add i look forward for this as i gladly like Metroid Games and stuff.

Also Link can have rupees by killing enemies and Samus can have his power-ups by killing enemies. That's perfect.

Also, how will you do with saves? It's a bit dificult complete a long level and return to the HUB with a checkpoint.

Checkpoints work in hub episodes just like they work in world map episodes.

Checkpoints... Isn't there some bug I don't remember in hub episodes? Like it doesn't save your checkpoint if you enter another level?

It does that in world map episodes, too.

Samus can Space-Jump, Link can't. (yay, I contributed something!)

Ooh, I have an idea:

1. make the Para Koopas/Para Goombas friendly.
2. using layers, attach each one to a harmful red-doughnut sprite swap.
3. set noice=0 for the red-doughnut sprite swaps.

Ta-da! You now have an enemy that can only be killed by ice.

It would be awesome if that worked but it doesn't, I tested it. You can't apply noiceball=0 to a donut block.

I like Super Metroid, so this is nice. However, in the Lava Rising Section of Tourain, I get a Run Time Error 9. You might want to fix that.

(and before you ask, yes I still have the level.)

I love the screenshots! I haven't played the level yet but I probably will.
Its so great to see a super metroid styled episode, as I love the metroid series

Just for the record, its not that big a deal because they only behaved that way in the very first metroid games. in newer ones, like the prime series, they can be hurt with any weapon.

But it would look akward if Samus floats.
