Other Adventure of Link

Look at all these Zelda 2 episodes... Well here's mine. It's a bit of Wind's, too, as a couple of levels by him will be used in it. He might make a few more in the future, who knows!

I want each major environment from Zelda 2 to be covered in this project so expect a rather comprehensive collection of levels. There will be a Zelda 2 styled world map, but don't worry, it won't look as primitive as in the original game. All used graphics will 16-bit renditions of the original 8-bit ones. All characters will be playable, probably. We don't have a definite story yet, but we have a couple of ideas.

As of now, four levels are done, but at this point only one of them is ready to be shown to the public.

Spoiler: show

If you want a preview, I have posted the level shown in the screenshots. It was my MAGLX contest entry. http://www.supermariobrosx.org/forums/v ... =32&t=2200

How will you recreate Zelda 2's gameplay? Items, the world map, map enemies, etc.

Right now we're aiming to make a somewhat normal world map episode. Level progression may be linear, nonlinear or a bit of both. Items will work like in Mario (power-ups provided in levels) and the map enemy concept, well, obviously we're not gonna have randomly wandering enemies since SMBX isn't capable of that.

Wind is a user who's been involved with lots of SMBX projects in the past. While he's never released an episode himself, he's contributed to several community episodes such as SMB: Revisited, SMB: The Next Generation and he helped me with Return to Dinosaur Land. We're currently working together on this episode and Return of the Zebesians, and he's also in the Vengance on Redigit team. He also won Community Contest 5 a year back.

Hey, will Death Mountain be like, you know, Death Mountain? With the branching paths and multiple over-world entrances?

Sure, that would be pretty awesome, actually. World map mazes are something that you don't see very often in SMBX. I personally have never seen a project that does that.

I would very much like to know where you got the graphics. and if you made them, would you plan on releasing them. (I've been looking all over for something like this)

Please don't Bump topics Zaxarone. These kinds of things are better to be taken up one on one via PM with the owner of the topic

Most of them are in Valtteri's Graphics Pack.
