It's the Holidays in the Land of Hyrule. Ranked 33rd.

Basically, I wanted to make a Zelda 2 level. Did I succeed? You be the judge of that! The level was criticized for the town, but to be fair I was just trying to recreate the Zelda 2 feeling. The town provides you a quest, but for the most part it's just a bunch of NPCs with nothing useful to say and it's pretty much just for atmospherical purposes. So, if you like Zelda 2, you may like this level! And if not, well, give it a try anyways! Also, it will be a part of my upcoming Zelda 2 styled project.

What I liked

Felt exactly like Zelda 2 to me, but with more refined gameplay. The graphics are stunning! You so masterfully took the 8-bit sprites and turned them into graphics that fit SMBX perfectly. The villages and the surroundings look great.
I also like how you created the Zelda 2 enemies. Octorocks as snifits? Great idea.

The gameplay was very good too. The quest about finding the lost child was fun but a bit too short in my opinion.

What I didn't like

The interiors of buildings look ugly. Maybe darken the sprites? Anyway, I felt like certain parts were too short. Most of the level was about exploring the village. There's little gameplay in this level. The lady in the village ays 'the child must have got lost' but 'must have gotten' is more correct grammaticaly. Another woman says 'yuong' instead of young. The checkpoint should've been placed in the village.

There is a block in the first cave that is quite hard to reach as Link (you have to make an upward slice to break it but it's quite confusing). I also dislike the enemy placement in some areas. The jumping fish enemies should be removed because jumping on the platforms can be pretty tedious.

Overall, I think this level deserves a 7.8 out of 10. It was great.

The Americans say "gotten", the British say "got". And thanks for pointing out that other one, I totally missed that. Thanks for your review!

Personally I think 'gotten' works better in that context, but yeah, they're both considered correct.

I don't think so. If he do, interiors would be jumbled with BGS.

Review: It's the Holidays in the Land of Hyrule

Overall Design/Gameplay: This level was designed really well. Though I've never played Zelda 2, I feel as if I am playing it, because you were able to pull off the Zelda 2 feel with great graphics and music. What I really appreciated about this level was the fact that there was a story behind it. From the building of the bridge to finding the lost baby in the cave, it added to the replay value and fun factor of this level. Nice job with this.

Suggestions/Improvements: If anything, I felt as if the forest section contained a bit too much enemies. The only thing I'd suggest is to remove a few enemies, so it won't be as difficult to navigate through.

Final Score: 9/10
Level Status: The Best

Thanks a lot m4sterbr0s! I'll prune the enemies for Other Adventure of Link.
