SMBX does not have viruses, as long as you have downloaded SMBX from here, you are go to go!

To make a good Mario episode, first come up with a idea that you want to fill with your heart's content, then try to come up with a amount of worlds and levels that you KNOW you can do! You can also plan out how your stages are staged on paper! and many different ways, the end result is up to you.

You can also try playing Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. 1, World and many other Mario games to get a general idea of the world map and level design.
