What is the "online" feature about?

I've tried it once, but it gave me an error when I tried to connect! I am wondering what the online functionality does, how does it connect with another user, is it just making the game or playing it, and how many people can do it? Thanks!

The online feature in smbx 1.3 is to edit levels together with someone else or play together a level but the playing part is very buggy and if you want to try this with someone then you can use hamachi for the connection part.
