Mario Universe D&D

Throughout the history of SMBX, there's been an ongoing problem with getting roleplays up and running. Several, actually, but the one I'm talking about is that no one has been able to agree on whether we should do Mario-themed roleplays or something more structured, like Dungeons & Dragons.
I asked myself, why not do both at once?
Introducing Mario Universe D&D
This is an extension of the standard 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons rules, created by me and Spinda (a.k.a. Vermillion Yoshi at the time of this posting). While it uses the general gameplay of D&D, we've implemented a ton of new content, including completely original races and monsters, to support D&D campaigns set in the Mushroom Kingdom and beyond.
I'll be hosting the first campaign created for this system. It'll be up in the next few days.
Until then, feel free to check out this Google doc that we put together, with all the content that's available to the public so far:
Mario Universe D&D Player's Handbook
Don't worry if you don't know anything about D&D – we'll be happy to get you acquainted with the basics when this is up and running.
For the time being, feel free to ask any questions you have in this thread!
Thanks!

Y'all better sign up for this because I spent quite soms time on all the race lore and I don't even want to know how long Pseudo spent on everything else.
I'm going to play, my character's almost done so I'll hopefully be able to post her tomorrow.

No problem that you haven't played D&D! Sign-ups aren't quite here yet - I'll be announcing the actual campaign, or specific storyline that will be used, in a few days, so keep your eyes peeled.

One of the best things to happen on the forum.
Hope it doesn't get shut down like the mafia.

OH YEAH!!!
Just got into D&D recently, and I'm actually starting my own 5th edition campaign.
This is going to be AMAZING!
Since I don't have college today, I'll have plenty of time to work on my character. Although, I have a couple of questions:
1) What time(s) will this be running?
2) What's the starting level?
3) What do we do with character sheets?

So to play, will i need to think of a character to play as? I'm also another one who hasn't played D&D, you'll be able to go through the rules when playing right?

First of all, you're gonna need a character sheet. You can download form-fillable pdfs
here, which you can edit with any decent pdf editor.
So yeah, you're gonna need to make a character. In fact, you're gonna go through most rules as you go about creating your character. A step-by-step process is described
here, though bear in mind that this uses the "normal" DnD races instead of the ones on offer here.
The site I linked -
5etools - is generally a very good resource to have. It has a list of all
classes,
backgrounds and
spells.
Now, the long wall of text for each class might be intimidating. I wrote very, very brief tl;drs for each class if you wanna get a general feel for them:
barbarian - a primal fighter who can enter a rage to do more damage and whatnot
bard - a musician who harnesses the power of inspiration to do magic and support his team
cleric - a priestly champion who uses divine magic to heal, hurt and support
druid - a priest of nature who uses the magic of nature and can turn into an animal
fighter - a master of combat, skilled with various weapons as well as techniques
monk - a martial arts master who fights without complicated weapons or armor and can harness the power of ki
paladin - a holy warrior who follows a certain oath
ranger - a master of ranged combat who is one with nature
rogue - a trickster who uses stealth and deception to reach his goals
sorcerer - a spellcaster who draws on magic power from a gift or bloodline
warlock - a spellcaster who got their magic from a bargain with a higher entity
wizard - a spellcaster who learned magic at, like, wizard school
artificer - a creator of magic items who uses a combination of magic and craftsmanship
mystic - a wielder of psionic energy who trains in disciplines with a multitude of effects (and is also a fucking weird guy)
For a first-timer, it might be best to play a class without any initial magic abilities - choosing your spells adds another layer of complexity that martial classes only get as they level up.
If you've got any further questions, feel free to DM me on Discord.
I've made a character that's basically done, I'm just gonna add some more people important to her later on:
I've put the backstory into a
seperate document.

Seems complicated. Perhaps i will only observe the first game to get a feel of how works, if that's fine with you? Thanks

Once you get into it it's actually not that complex.
Just like the first bit might be a bit rough but after that you get the hang of it.

Is this Super Mario "Dungeons & Dragons" roleplay gonna have stats from the Mario RPGs? If so, I'm IN!

Did you... read the rules? Maybe that'll answer your question.

Are there any limitations on making your character?

I tried, i kept getting errors while waiting for the rules page to load. DAMN LAPTOP
(EDIT): I'm reading the rules on a more
updated chrome. And there's no stats for customizing a character's skills or bonuses
(Example: Badge Points from Paper Mario & The Thousand Year Door) I guess I'll think about joining anyways

Seems cool. I never played D&D before, but I'll try to look up basic rules and your docs.

If you use Unearthed Arcana Material (tagged with "UA" on 5etools, you have to use the most recent version of said material. Additionally, anything from UAModern is banned due to it being fundamentally different from the mood and everything of this campaign. You would also have to be cautious when making Evil characters, as it might be hard to integrate within a party (Pseudo didn't explicitly state the latter but that's usually the way it goes).
