oh yeah this thread

so anyway i now have one of each pokemon from the alolan dex and from island scan in my PC, including like half of the alternate forms. i also have some other crap from the gts like the nidoran line and lotad line. i also traded a couple shinies for a virizion, phione and azelf so thats cool.

also does anyone want a pineco or foreign pokemon? i have too many. the foreigns vary, the pinecos have 2-4 perfect IVs, impish nature and have 4 egg moves: sand tomb, counter, toxic spikes and stealth rock.

I haven't really played Sun in a while, which is probably because I'm not really using my 3DS anymore (I haven't beaten the Battle Tree yet). Still hope I get the chance to revisit it someday!

Just got my Pidgeotite and Steelixite, and now I'm prepping up a team for the April online competition! It uses VGC rules, and what I'm planning to do is make a team based around Arcanine, Celesteela and Gastrodon. Do you guys think they're a good core, and if so, how should I go about the rest of my team?

Time to bump this thread with a great conversation! ^.^')

If you can have any Pokemon (or more, if you want! ;) ) in the world in real life as a pet, what would this/they be? My answer:
  • All 3 starter Pokemon from Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal!
  • All 3 Legendary Dog Pokemon from Generation 2!

Could Pokéballs be based on the Gen 1 legendaries?

Postby Tempest » Fri Apr 21, 2017 12:10 am

I just realized something

The Pokéball color schemes could be based on the Gen 1 legendaries

Pokéball = Moltres (maybe)
Great Ball = Articuno (red for the eyes)
Ultra Ball = Zapdos
Master Ball = Mew and Mewtwo (purple for mewtwo and pink for mew)

MINDBLOWN

It's just a coincidence. Pokeballs were invented in Johto with Apricorn balls - they were cut, hollowed out and had a mechanism installed in them. Then what was originally known as a craft was eventually turned into mass production when Silph Co. took the idea and ran with it to create the Pokeballs we know today - and that's also where Voltorb and Electrode most likely came from. The thing about the Master Ball's relation to Mewtwo might lend some credibility though - it was made by Silph and the reason Team Rocket attacked said company was to get ahold of the Master Ball and use it to enslave Mewtwo as part of their plot to take over the world.

Saying the Pokeballs were based on Articuno/Zapdos/Moltres is like saying they were based on Vaporeon/Jolteon/Flareon or Raikou/Entei/Suicune. Just because they're red, blue and yellow it doesn't mean they're related to legendaries.
