Shuckle can't have Baton Pass iirc. I remember using it in Anything Goes in the last and it's super OP to do that.

I often also have a Shuckle on my team but I've reworked my strategy and redone my entire team.

Also I'd like to do monotype in the future. It's a pretty fun tier. I'd be slightly opposed to themed teams as I think it could be off-putting to people who may not know Pokémon well and get stuck who still want to participate
Same goes for some smeargle ideas i had with the ability Moody but most Types have it disabled sadly....

its ok i know a pretty effective shuckle combo that'll make it hell
Only problem is that it would be situational,

Shuckle @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shell Smash
- Toxic
- Infestation
- Stealth Rock

Something like this would work...

Setup stealth rock (maybe sandstorm instead) and start shell smashing
You'll increase Defense Sp Defense and speed but atk and Sp Atk would be lowered
Throw a Toxic and Infestation and there you go..
Sometimes use Rest and a Chesto-Berry perhaps or Leftovers as a healing item perhaps?

It's actually a gametype called Monotype.
I was thinking one step further actually

Imagine - Bird-based Pokémon except they CAN'T have the flying type.
It would give you something like Blaziken, Decidueye, Empoleon, Porygon-Z, Golduck, Aromatisse
That way you get a well-rounded team. I'm not opposed to Monotype, but I'd think it'd be even more fun with crazier themes lol
That would be an interesting idea

Also, since dragonfan talks about Smeargle, i want to ask, is Dark Void Smeargle allowed for OU?

Idk you can just go on and check it out. Honestly "Spore" is definitely allowed for Smeargle and has 100 accuracy, while "Dark Void" only has 80

technically its allowed but its now programmed into the game where if anything besides darkrai tries to use dark void it will fail. also what pixelpest said, though take note of the sleep clause: only one thing asleep at a time on a team, or something to that effect.

Sign ups are over!

Everyone who signed up has exactly one week to send me the team they want to compete with in text form or as a txt file!

Happy team-building, everyone!

Why don't they just send a pm instead of going through that hassle of uploading a file to Dropbox or mediafire then sending you the pm where you have to download and possibly unzip it?

Edit: oh I see what you mean by text form

Just a question, we're only allowed to use Pokémon from the OU tier right? or can we use others?

Anything that qualifies for an OU battle, which also includes things like UU, BL, etc. Basically anything that's not unreleased, Uber, CAP, or duplicates

Showdown is programed for that move to only to work for darkrai i've tested it before sadly it doesnt work...

Smeargle isnt very effective in OU sadly

guess i'll just add on to this since ive been all about showdown lately but yeah smeargle is outclassed since baton pass got banned and for hazards it's outclassed by forretress (great typing, great defense with stealth rock, spikes, toxic spikes, rapid spin and explosion) and shuckle (good bulk on both ends, gets stealth rock and sticky web). and of course smeargle doesn't have the power to take advantage of anything else.

Re: Community Pokémon Showdown Tournament - NOW BATTLING!!!

Postby Marina » Wed Mar 07, 2018 7:23 pm

The tournament has officially begun!

Below, you see the bracket and which participants have been assigned to each other. Now it is the participants' task to find each other and duke it out.
Important: Several participants have asked me for their teams to be kept secret, so send your playbacks to me directly when you're done with a battle, as to keep other participants unspoiled about an opponent's team.
I will keep the bracket updated in the main post according to progress.

Showdown Tournament - UPDATE

Postby Marina » Sat Mar 10, 2018 8:24 am

Important update!

Due to circumstances that lie outside the contestants' power, I had to tweak the match-ups a bit. Dragonfan is now up against Warioman and Uzendayo is now up against perhaps.

Somehow I went and forgot about this tournament entirely. Oh well, maybe next time.
