Well, that Nintendo presentation of Labo was real interesting. Nintendo took bits of cardboard and created games out of the stuff. I think the idea is nice, but:
What will happen if you get the cardboard wet, or use it in a moist area? Will the cardboard break, stop working as good as it's meant to, or keep working regardless?
Since it's cardboard, kids may accidentally break it. It may get torn, bent out of shape, etc...
Plus, if it is fairly expensive (probably around £/$10 - £/$30), replacing it will be a nightmare. Plus, it comes with a game cart, so that adds to the price.
Other than that, I think Nintendo outdid themselves with this one. Cardboard gaming? I may not be playing it for long, but it should be rather enjoyable.
What are your thoughts on Labo?

Is this some kind of shitpost joke? I check the news on Nintendo games on Twitter. And I see no news about this "Labo"!
Edit: Okay, I seen some Twitter proof of Nintendo Labo recently... And it looks weird af

Really clever solution to the problem of gaming peripherals.
https://amp.theguardian.com/games/2018/ ... ssion=true
The finished Toy-Cons are surprisingly sturdy, but won’t stand up to extended enthusiastic play with younger kids. They do, however, dispense with the need to ever spend money on plastic accessories. Nintendo plans to offer replacement cardboard kits and templates for players who break theirs, but the easier solution is just to mend it. You can stick the cardboard Toy-Cons back together with glue or tape, reinforce them, or decorate them with pens, washi tape or googly eyes, without affecting their functionality. It’s easy to imagine creative players and the online maker community taking this customisation in unexpected directions.

...why would you use it in a wet or moist area? That's just common sense
Anyways, this looks so gosh darn cool! I really want one, don't care which set. Hopefully I can get it as a 2-Day late birthday gift!

It's an interesting idea, but I still imagine a lot of folks will end up just buying overpriced third-party plastic versions of the peripherals due to the whole "it's gonna be fragile" fear. On the flipside, I can totally see this inspiring some cool DIY projects like that guardian article suggests.

Thing is, if I was to buy both sets, wouldn't I be buying the same game cartridge twice? Can't tell if those two game boxes are for the same game or not.
I wonder if it will allow you to create your own creations that function in different ways to the defaults; e.g. create some rocket and you can play a space game?
The one thing i'm worried about is if any of the actual tech parts (Joy-cons or Switch) will be able to fall out of the model.

No?
Each pack includes a game for the peripherals that come with it. The variety pack gets stuff like the piano, fishing and RC car games, while the robo pack gets the robot game and suit.

They are a bit expensive though. The robot one looks like it has a lot of potential, but maybe the variety pack will last longer (as in more to do). Which one will you guys buy first?

Fascinating... A lot of startup companies have done similar things with smartphones. It seems really strange coming from Nintendo though.

It's creative... that's something, i hope on every console you purchase, there the Nintendo Labo Cardboard in it.

For me this is a creative way to exploit everything that the Switch presents...
Nintendo never conforms always looks forward. Sometimes looks back to recognize that was wrong to fix it and then innovates it.
Nintendo is a masterpiece of entertainment that something different from other consoles does not mean it is bad except in some cases.
But I think and hopefully so that Nintendo will make use of this new way of playing in Switch.

Labo looks interesting. I'm curious to see how this will change the experience of some games.

Yes, hopefully Labo will be compatible with games that didn't have Labo in mind - for example, what if the camera Labo could be used in Mario Odyssey to take pictures? Or if the steering wheel Labo could be used in Mario Kart? This could open many possibilities, but we'll have to see if these toy-cons will be compatible with games other than the Labo ones.

You can generally expect them to be as compatible as any other peripheral:

Is not my thing, but I don't see anything wrong with it, and even if it fails, nintendo wouldn't lose too much money, since is just cardboard.
