Review - Vulcao 1
I'm not quite sure about the actual name of this level or anything but whatever, vulcao I'm assuming means volcano in another language which is fitting for this.
My initial impressions were..awkward idk. The music was weird, not bad. Hard to tell as of yet if fitting. And the rotodisc was kind of out of place in the beginning area imo.
And then oh boy..moving layers but not moving enemies? Idk. The movement was too jerky, it didn't fit for this style. I'd lower it down slowly, give it a quick pause, and then raise it again.
Heck, moving layers aren't even necessary in that section yet. What I'd do is make smaller platforms and ditch the moving entirely, it was glitching the hammer bros.
Also uh..what's up with this?

it uh..made the rotodisc disappear? Idk if that was intentional or what but like
Idk, just kinda awkward. And then the Sonic-esque switch thing was weird too like wut. Why a pipe? A pipe is not a clear indicator that you're supposed to press it
And then I see another big nono: why would you make spin jumping podobos necessary. Especially right here

WHYWHYWHY
Here's what happened
-Right as I went to spin jump, the fucking fire pirahna shot his load off
-I got hit
-Fell into the lava
-Died
-Killed myself
Either replan your podobo jumping carefully so users don't kill themselves (you got a ghost Luigi reviewing now) or don't do it all.
And then you decided to mix the round ? blocks with the squares, this looks pretty bad imo. the round ones should stay for one purpose if you're going to have the rounds as the "anchor" for the rotodisc
But then came the underground area. I gotta say, this one was really nice looking. The tileset fit nicely but then..a down arrow as a check point? Why why why why why.
The level itself was short though, kind of disappointing if you ask me.
Atmosphere: it didn't quite feel like a volcano, but that's not to say it still wasn't good. 6/10
Gameplay: alot off odd and frustrating design choices that prevented this level from being higher up. 6/10
NPC Placement: not enough npcs really, it felt barren at times 5/10
Graphics: tilsets were nice but some graphics were odd looking. 6/10
Overall Score: 5.75/10 a level that felt alot to be desired. but by no means bad.
