To enter the forum you need an age but what is the limit?

There's no age limit. It's just that users who are too young and immature are often banned for poor posting habits, etc. Most of the content kept on the forums is PG-13

I would say that the actual PGE editor is a 3+ like Mario games are, the forums 12+ as it's online and playing levels / episodes from other users is 7+ due to some probably including mild language. But really it's up to the person's behavior really, I mean most of us keep SMBX to SMBX, we don't go jumping around as if we're Mario or something.

There used to be an age limit of 13+ but we don't care anymore, although as Pixel Pest said they are more prone to bans as they are generally less mature and not understand rules and how the forum works correctly.
You should keep in mind that some episodes won't be suitable for all ages although users should warn people if their episodes may not be suitable for everyone on the forum.

Online interaction is not usually taken into consideration when deciding on an age rating, and those age limits are normally decided by the hosts in the ToS or in some cases the law. But then you can't really attach an age limit using a system that is for games to a social site like this forum. As for episodes, they vary, and there are probably episodes that have mature content in themm, but then the creator should have warned about it before you download the episode.

Long story short, anything that talks about "age 13+" is about COPPA regulations but we don't put COPPA into effect in order to ban younger users. (It's notoriously known that this happened on the original forums in 2010, causing a considerable cut to the userbase back then)

Look, there is no age limit, I am 11 years old, because I am good at creating levels, but some ask: WTF with 11 years old already makes levels a bit difficult

I'm glad there is no age limit since there are some (but not all) young people who are not as bad as they seem.
