Zelda Oracles Level Editor

Postby Kobor Nefleheim » Wed Apr 09, 2014 8:15 am

Hi guys, this is Pyro here and I know it's been a LONG time since I've been around, that's because I'm workng on another project of my own! It's originating from ZOLE, a Zelda rom hack made by Lin and since it's still rooting and being updated, I figured that I'd publicize it even more!
The forums for ZOLE(Zelda Oracles Level Editor) , or LALE (The upgraded version of Link's Awakening Data Editor) is here!

My WIP project is here!

Tell me how you think of my project and the ZOLE itself! :D
BTW, the link for downloading ZOLE itself is here!

Oh, and for now since my good friend Lin is still updating the ZOLE itself, it only is sufficient for Oracle of Ages;Seasons has not been decided to become official...YET. :)

I'll assume you're well aware ZOLE won't let you edit major of the things on both OoA and OoS, you need extra programs that let you edit both, Message Scripts and Events, it isn't something you can take that easily. But I have to say, you seem to have planned a lot for this project so I guess I'll wish you good luck, as it's the very least I can do for you. Hope you finish your project so I can get to play it, it has been a very long time since I last tried out old Zelda games.

I'm still waiting for somebody to create a Zelda editor that functions similar to SMBX.

Yeah, that would be the greatest thing ever. I use Zelda Classic but it's far too daunting to use. The Oracles duology is great though! I'll definitely check this out and edit OoA (tone down the difficulty a bit maybe).

That's probably what drew me away from the Oracle games was it's difficulty, but maybe it was something else. I was fairly used to Link's Awakening graphic style, so it's not that.

Oracle of Seasons is alright, but Oracle of Ages is extremely hard. The dungeons are a real pain. Seasons was more combat-intensive while Ages was more about solving puzzles.

To answer both, Oracles isn't hard you just need to know the algo rithim for it. Plus I was informed from BigTarantula that ZOLE 4.5, an UNOFFICIAL ZOLE is being released soon, it is easier for beginners to edit and program but, it isn't that simple as SMBX just like Natsu stated. Oh, and BTW, you DO need to have massive scripting and events just like SMBX which is WHY, there is the ZOSE (Zelda Oracles Script Editor), ZOCE (Zelda Oracle Chest Editor), and many others!
BTW, Raster, Zelda Classic is only daunting if one does not simply know the flags of events, and graphic and hex coding properly; believe me, I had Zelda Classic once, well when I had it , it was called Z-Quest but still! *unfortunately all my amazing quests were deleted because my family pc broke down and the software tech deleted some programs like Zelda Classic*

Anyways, my project is highly elaborate and is already in progress! I'll post it once it is completed!! :D
