It turns out that even now, too many people are misusing this term "clash", despite numerous people trying to convince them that clash is not what they're describing. I'm going to explain what clash actually is and how not to use the term.

What is clash?
"Clash", also known as "graphical clashing" or simply "clashing" just means that two graphics are placed where one can see the other and thus are not compatible, such as a grass tile inside a castle level. It has got absolutely nothing to do with the games that they come from. Joey's clashing guide (whom is the original author of this topic) in the Ultimate SMBX CGFX Pack is only a guide as to what and what not you should use - you don't have to follow it. Nowhere does it say something like "You should never use SMB3 with YI as it always creates clash and you should feel bad."

And why is the term being misused so much nowadays?
Simple, really. A lot of graphics that don't fit in vicinity of each other just so happen to be from different games. However, it does not always mean that this is why the graphics clash. It's just they are from different games - it's the styles - not the games - that determine whether two graphics clash or not.

Do you page me? Whenever you criticise graphics anywhere in SMBX, try not to misuse the term "clash" especially after reading this guide.

*criticize

It seems you misspell this term a lot, unless it's spelled "criticise" in England or whatever country you live in. It's criticize in the U.S.

Otherwise, the only reason I complain about game mixing and why I call it clash is because I hate mixing palettes, as stupid as it sounds. I could agree with it, but I'm not going to stop pointing it out since I absolutely positively despise it.

I particularly hate SMB3 and SMW getting mixed, it just makes me cringe quite frankly.

That's how we spell it where I live.

It sounds like 'zzz' though!!! I guess I do it selectively, at least with "advertise".

Also, I apologize for the clashing guide being somewhat shallow and nondescript, but it is just a guide like castlewars said.

It's weird that this is even necessary, the word "clash" is certainly not unique to SMBX, its meaning should be common sense.
