SMBX is constantly lagging for me. It doesn't stop me from playing the game, but it gets quite annoying. And I'm sure it's not my computer.
I play games with their video settings maxed out with no lag.
Is there a way to prevent this?

Well a lot of the lag could be due to your computer hardware. Post your specs so there's more information on how your problem can be solved.

Yup, it helps a bit more. You may want to try setting SMBX's process priority to 'High." You can do this by going to task manager and right clicking SMBX and selecting the 'Set priority' option. There is also an option within SMBX called 'Disable Frame Skip' which could help out with game play to the point where it isn't too annoying. The only other methods I would try is defragging, disk cleanup and other maintenance to generally improve your performance.

Setting the priority to high and disabling the frame skip didn't make much of a difference. It still lags.
I'll try defragging and all that other stuff tomorrow and come back and say if it helped.

That's weird. On my Windows 7 it does not lag in the slightest. Look at my System: One Thing for sure is that SMBX is a strong program to run but normally it should run fine on your PC. SMBX was made on Windows Vista as far as I can tell...

It's not hardware related, my XP runs SMBX fine. It could be something else that's open causing it to lag, check the Task Manager for other programs maybe dragging it down. You may need to re-install SMBX, but that's a last resort.

Nope. It's still lagging. And I've re-installed it a day ago and it was the same.

Try killing the application that's taking up the most processing, unless it's SMBX or some system-related process.
